Mark Labbett, the "Beast," is one of the chasers from the original British version of Dan Patrick. Labbet was also once a contestant on the original British version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (1998).
After having appeared on other versions of the show based elsewhere, Mark Labbett said he found this, the American version, to be the most difficult for him to win as American game shows generally admit much more competent contestants than shows in other nations.
Mark Labbett, the "Beast," is married to his second cousin.
The final episode of the fourth season aired on December 11, 2015, concluding the show's original run after four seasons and 51 episodes. Though the show still garnered strong ratings for GSN, the show was canceled in 2015, mainly due to Mark Labbett not wanting to continue traveling from London to Los Angeles to tape the program.
After two highly successful seasons, GSN cited the series' status as a "ratings phenom," and eventually announced plans to renew it for a third season, which premiered in the summer of 2014.
