Senior breast surgeon Amalia Levy detects a suspicious mass in her own breast minutes before her consult with Member of Knesset Micah Haddad, the new chairman of the political party Horizon for Israel who is in the midst of an election campaign. Micah is shocked to hear that he has breast cancer, Amalia's aloof delivery doesn't help soften the blow, and decided to keep it a secret from his family and colleagues. Amalia tries to weigh her own options with her usual stern composure, but things spiral out of control as everyone in her close-knit family has an opinion on the matter. Meanwhile, in a last-ditch attempt to salvage her failing stand-up comedy career, Amalia's sister Adi appropriates Amalia's ordeal and appears on stage pretending to have just received a cancer diagnosis.

Amalia performs surgery on Micah, who continues to hide his condition from the public and his daughters. But when rumors of marital strife are about to break, he makes the brave decision to come forward and reveal he is a man who has "girl cancer". Meanwhile, Adi's comedy act, in which she fakes being a cancer patient, gains surprising success, and Amalia's teenage daughter, Ella, finds out she's pregnant. Despite being a surgeon accustomed to making life-or-death decisions for others, Amalia struggles with her own treatment, repeatedly rescheduling her operation. Finally, her family confronts her, with her ex-husband Amir providing the clearest perspective, nudging her towards a decision that would not only impact her life but the lives of those she holds dear.

Amalia grapples with the aftermath of surgery, struggling to relinquish control and adjust to the unfamiliar role of a patient. Amir reenters her life, assuming the role of caretaker, not only to her but also to their children. Adi successful fraudulent comedy act also leads to a new romantic relationship with Andrei, the comedy club's owner who is drawn to her honesty and bravery on stage. Back home, Amalia's illness impacts her children- Itamar, her son, is consumed by Googling medical facts and statistics, while Ella contemplates proceeding with her pregnancy, despite her parents' objections. Micah's attempt to keep things business as usual is derailed when he finds out his deputy is undermining his authority, while his daughter wants to cut short her South American trip and return home. In the hospital, Amalia and Micah find themselves alone in the chemotherapy room, and their relationship takes a personal turn.

Their shared chemo sessions deepen Amalia and Micah's bond. After a heated fight with his family about Maayan's Palestinian girlfriend, Micha arrives at Amalia's home, and Amir realizes his hopes of reuniting with Amalia are just an illusion.

Amir and Amalia reconcile and speak openly about their relationship.

Adi is forced to continue with her cancer charade even though she secretly wants to come clean. In a chemo room confession, Amalia and Micha declare their love. The biopsy results are not good: Amalia has another malignant tumor. She decides not to tell anyone and writes her will. Micha's wife reveals she knows about the affair and asks him to choose between her and Amalia. Unaware of Amalia's worsening condition, Amir tells her he's moving on with his life. Amalia's unique perspective as both patient and doctor earns her the directorship of the center, while Micha's bold political stance catapults his party forward in the polls. In a bittersweet parting, the two career-driven individuals agree to prioritize their work over their love for each other. On the surface, it pays off big time: Amalia is transforming the Breast Health Center, while Micha doubles his party's power in the elections. Yet, behind closed doors, the yearning for each other persists night after night.
