- Captain Andréas Meyer of the Swiss police has a meeting in the ski resort with Thierry Fortin, a former college friend who has become a senior executive in the company Vivance. Fortin doesn't show up and Captain Meyer learns that he has just been murdered. Vivance is run by Franciska Durer, childhood sweetheart of Captain Meyer, to whom she preferred Fortin 25 years ago. Constance Vivier, warrant officer in the high mountain gendarmerie platoon (the PGHM), tells Captain Bronzi of the Gendarmerie of Chamonix, in charge of the investigation, that the 6 executives of Vivance were the victims a year previously of an avalanche, in which one executive didn't survive as well as their guide. For Captain Bronzi, all trails lead to Durer. But Capain Meyer and Vivier don't think Durer did it, so they decide to pursue the perpetrator on their own with the aid of Captain Meyer's assistant Thomas Knott. The investigators come to realize that while the Vivance executives suffered in the avalanche, a resort restaurant owner Hélène's son Olivier was also skiing nearby, but he didn't survive. Hélène thus blames those Vivance executives and decides to take revenge by killing all of the surviving executives.
