Disney+ New Releases: July 2021
Image
July is the month that North America goes back to the movies in earnest. There have already been some theatrical release of note this summer, but as everyone knows the blockbuster movie season doesn’t get started until a Marvel movie premieres. Thankfully, with its list of new releases for July 2021, Disney+ is offering up some options for those who prefer to stay home.

In addition to arriving in theaters on July 9, Black Widow will premiere on Disney+ as well. Disney+ subscribers can purchase the first Marvel movie released since 2019 for $29.99. Judging by the early buzz, that “Premier Access” price may be worth it. Disney+ is keeping the original summer movie parade going in July with The Rock’s latest action film, Jungle Cruise, premiering on July 30.

National Geographic is biting off more “SharkFest” content than fans can chew– er, view all at once this year, with six weeks of programming spread across four networks and streaming service Disney+, TheWrap has learned exclusively.

2021’s “SharkFest,” which is the ninth annual edition of Nat Geo’s “fin-tastic” summer event, will start swimming Monday, July 5. The biggest titles in this year’s megalodon-sized lineup include “Shark Beach With Chris Hemsworth,” which debuts that first night at 9/8c on Nat Geo, and the feature doc “Playing With Sharks,” which premieres July 23 on Disney+.

“Shark Beach With Chris Hemsworth” follows the global movie star as he embarks on a personal mission to investigate how we can live more harmoniously with sharks, per Nat Geo. The one-hour documentary special from Nutopia (“One Strange Rock”) features shark icon and conservationist Valerie Taylor, who takes Hemsworth for a shark dive to experience firsthand the...

Disney+ New Releases: June 2021
Image
Just about everybody in the streaming world is laser-focused on competing with Netflix and Disney+. AT&T recently announced that it would be spinning off WarnerMedia and merging with Discovery, Inc. with that exact goal in mind. How does Disney react to such corporate posturing? By releasing one of its biggest series yet, of course!

Loki, the third and biggest arrow in Disney+’s Marvel quiver, headlines Disney+’s list of new releases for June 2021. This series about the God of Mischief encountering the Time Variance Authority is set to arrive on June 9, two days ahead of its original June 11 release date. Disney+ has enjoyed some success in the weekly release model. Now it is going to experiment with release days. Every episode of Loki will arrive on Wednesday, rather than the usual Friday for other Disney+ series.
