I think it's the kind of short that makes one say- "Dang, they really don't make those types of films much."
The plot is streamlined, with characters very direct and uncomplicated, no proverbial "Rosebud" here.
But whether it's a comedy trying to be a romance, or a romance trying to be a comedy, one thing's for certain - TeLoAM is the cinematic equivalent of a fortune cookie, and the sweetness is well earned.
Am I being generous with the star rating?
Perhaps, but the ability to tell a compelling story without jumping to a gunfight is rare indeed. It's easier to see "the next new thing" as jumping to a "body horror" or psychological thriller, but sometimes, the human experience wants to see a film that cares about the happiness of the audience- and this delivers in spades.
