After reading the terrible reviews here was fully not expecting anything from this. Actually enjoyed it, something a bit different and the shaky camera work others have gnashed teeth over wasn't really an issue.

If people actually bothered watching the full series they might understand why the central character is somewhat abrasive...

I haven't finished the series yet but felt compelled to leave a review, which after reading the other reviews seems to echo the same sentiment.

I'm not sure what exactly the cinematographer and director were attempting to achieve with this style of filming. The erratic camera movements and zooms do not lend anything to the storyline and are more a distraction than anything. I could see it being a bit nauseating for some viewers. Something is wrong if the viewer is paying attention to the camera rather than the story.

That said, the story is mediocre at best. The story has plot holes and the actor performances are subpar at best. Also, you're telling me the main character flew 14 hours to New Zealand on a single aisle plane with all of 20 rows? Attention to various details was blatantly missed or overlooked.

Once again BBC wastes viewers money on Lauren Lyle who is truly a one trick pony. The rest of the cast are okay, but the plot is poor at best often sliding rapidly downhill to utter garbage. Lyle plays her usual abysmally unlikable character who insults or demeans everyone whilst playing the part of a thoroughly unlikable junkie doctor. Watch it if you like, but I suffered through six episodes and wished that I hadn't.

Too slow, bad script, bad acting & looks like it was shot by a 4 year old with a 90's camcorder.

Too many zooms & wobbly camera work just leave you feeling sea sick & distract from a limited plot, making 45 min episodes seem much longer.

Make better use of your free-time and seek out anything else Lauren Lyle is in instead.

Without too fine a point on it ; if you are going to connect Scotland to the antipodes , at least make it cohesive and this doesn't do that in any shape or form ?

It's stilted and ultimately soap like within minutes ?

If I didn't know better , it's a daytime ( dull ) Anzac soap ?

Fair play to the BEEB, they lathered this up big time , but it's rubbish ?
