Pleasant feel good film
I watched this film as I have been a fan of Michael Head since I reviewed his theatre play.
This is very different to what I have come to expect from the writer however I did enjoy the film.
The Spin is a feel good film following to down on there luck record store owners that are given one last chance to save their shop by travling the country to get some rare and valuble records.
On the surface the film is simple, perhaps even predictable however it is also charming and uplifting. A tale of freindship and a fathers desire not to let his daughter down.
No the film is not as intelligent, gritty or funny as Head's normal body of work, yet it is still worth a watch, it will make you smile and maybe not laugh out loud but certainly chuckle with some good performances including from Kimbley Wyatt (Pussycat doll fame) and Muara Higgins (Love Island) who both do very well and do not detract as casting of this nature often do. The lead characters all give solid if not spectacular performances and special mention must go to the crazy Irish policeman who injects some pace and comedy when needed.
The plot is a little thin and may have a hole of two in it but that doesn't detract from what this film is meant to be, wholesome, uplifting and a good way to spend some time.

Happy go lucky film
Nice, feel-good local indie film made in Northern Ireland. Easy to watch, with a nice ending. I'd recommend it. I watched the premier in London and got to see and meet some of the actors. They seemed like a good brunch and I hope this leads to some success.
It flows nicely and shows off some of the natural scenery of Ireland.

A fun watch for all the family
If you're looking for a light, feel-good comedy drama, The Spin is it!
Saw the film at its recent London premiere and enjoyed it. It's essentially about 2 buddies in Co. Tyrone -- Dermot & Elvis -- who own a record shop, which they could lose as they are strapped for cash & can't pay the rent. They embark on a road trip to the other side of Ireland to get their hands on a pot of gold in Cork (rare records), with a host of comedy capers along the way.
The cast is great: there is brilliant chemistry between the two leads, Dermot (Brenock O'Connor) and Elvis (Owen Colgan), as well as Derry Girls' mama Tara Lynne O'Neill. Also, lots of cool cameos from likes of Irish music legends Barry Devlin and Steve Wickham, Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt, & Love Island's Maura Higgins. There's a great soundtrack too by the musician whose story inspired the film.
Overall, an easy watch and fun for all the family.
