Hulu K-drama Light Shop is a supernatural mystery thriller that tells the story of a light shop in the middle of a dark alley that everyone is afraid to pass through. The 8-part series released 4 episodes to open with and will release the second half of the show, 2 episodes at a time, over the next two weeks. This leaves us ruminating on what’s coming next, because the first four episodes only leave us curious. The series follows multiple characters, none of whom can truly be labeled the protagonist of the show. However, some have a more significant role than others, and this is because they might be the living, rather than the “almost” dead. My recap will probably help us understand that a little bit better. With that, let’s get into the first 4 episodes of Light Shop.

Hulu’s Light Shop is a far cry from Gangnam B-Side, and I’m overjoyed by the prospect. The dark mystery series takes a deep dive into the purgatory between life and death. In it, we’re often confused about who is human and who is a spirit because many humans are able to see and interact with the spirits. At the end of a terrifying alley is a light shop that is always open late at night. Its bright interior attracts anyone who passes through the alley to visit unprompted. In the first four episodes of the series, all released in one go, we meet a few characters who are afraid of this alleyway. By the end of the fourth episode, there is a major twist that leaves you shocked. Not only is this a big revelation going forward, but it also sheds new light, both figuratively and literally,...

Premiering on December 4, Light Shop was marked as one of Disney+’s tentpole Korean series for 2024 when the streamer’s slate was first announced earlier this year.
Created and written by Kangfull, the mastermind behind Disney+ hit series Moving, Light Shop tells the story of a light shop, its shopkeeper, and a group of strangers who are mysteriously drawn into the shop.
Light Shop is based on a webtoon that Kangfull published in 2011.
Ju Ji-hoon, who plays shopkeeper Jung Won-young, said that finding the right tone for his seemingly aloof, brooding character was the key challenge for him while filming Light Shop.
“The easy part was, I don’t have to use emotions,” Ju told Deadline. “But the difficult part to express is that there’s a reason why I don’t have these emotions. Later on in the series, I have to show why I’m so unexpressive.

During the short period that Disney+ has been active across the major markets of the Asia-Pacific region — just a little over two years in most countries — the Walt Disney Co. has gone through a period of uncharacteristic turmoil. A CEO shakeup, a secular reassessment of the streaming business, cost-cutting, shaky box-office results, speculation over asset sales and activist investors clamoring at the gates. But the company’s most recent earnings report beat analysts’ forecasts and gave CEO Bob Iger some of his Magic Kingdom mojo back. Iger reaffirmed that the company’s streaming operation will be profitable by this summer, while also unveiling a slew of projects and deals.
