This insightful series about marriage has so many good things about it. It has some of the funniest characters and scenes in K drama. It has the most insane mother in law of any K drama and that is saying lots. It has psychological insights and deals with real issues that other dramas don't often deal with like depression and alcohol abuse. The humor keeps this show going and there are laugh out loud scenes but also many truths about marriage and infidelity and divorce both in rich families and middle income families.
The first main romance may seem frustrating but what happens to Nam Sang Mi's character when she marries into the rich family is fascinating and scary. The impact on her is quite realistic.
The cast is terrific from the nasty mother in laws to the main characters. Especially funny are the cheating husband played by Jang Hyun Sung and the his co anchor played by Clara Lee. Their English dialogue is so funny. Wicked mother in law from hell played by Yoon So Jung is really something. Fans of Inheritors will recognize the actresses who played the mute housekeeper and the nasty step mother. The daughters in law are all great especially Eun Hee played by Jang Young Nam. Sky Castle fans will be happy to see the elegant Lee Tae Ran in a well rounded character. The guys all have their distinct characters are all well cast too from the drunken 2nd son to the upright 3rd son played by Kim Ji Hoon. His powerlessness to help his wife is quite touching. The wishy washy architect played by Lee Sang Woo is frustrating but realistic.
This series is 36 episodes and I enjoyed all of them. What a gem.
