I liked it a lot
In Lazarus, veteran thriller author Harlan Coben invites viewers to delve into a labyrinth of family secrets, guilt, and visions that border on the supernatural. The protagonist, Sam Claflin as Joel "Laz" Lazarus, returns to his hometown after the suicide of his father, renowned psychiatrist Dr. Lazarus (Bill Nighy), and soon finds himself investigating his sister's disappearance decades earlier. The highlight of the series is precisely this union between Coben's signature investigative thriller and a darker, more introspective atmosphere: visions, unresolved traumas, the fine line between reality and imagination. However, despite a good premise and a competent cast, the execution suffers from uneven pacing, excessive twists, and a certain predictability that dilutes the impact. If you follow @filmesconservadores and are looking for a thought-provoking series-about family, responsibility, loss-and enjoy suspense with a hint of psychological mystery,
Lázaro delivers. But it's worth going in prepared: the real merit lies in the "atmosphere" and the suspense-building, more than in a perfectly tied conclusion. I emphasize that the series explores family values, remorse, and redemption-but due to the extremely violent scenes, I only recommend it for adults. Filmes Conservadores Page.
All over the place but watchable
It's a frustrating watch, it's doesn't have the usual flair that we've come to expect from the Netflix Harlan Coben adaptations, it's all over the place plot-wise and the general production is quite dark which is annoying at times. That said if you can get through the first episode, stick with it, it's watchable but not the finest of Harlan Coben stuff by a long chalk. The lead character is very difficult to like - Sam
Claflin does his best with him, the rest of the cast is a bit weak and pointless for the most part, although Bill Nighy is always excellent and watchable yet criminally underused. It could've been really good but it's a bit silly at times, really silly in places, all in all middling at best. Episode 2-4 are the better ones in my opinion, so 7 is generous based on those and the last 25 mins of the whole thing.
Could someone please turn the light or the sun on
Why does everything have to be so dark. Are audiences unable to appreciate the 'darkness' of a plot unless it is filmed in gloom. Surely the sun shines and lights work despite the gloominess of the plot. It is so frustrating, I really wanted to watch this series, I love Harlan Coben's plots, but this is unwatchable.
So much yelling
Appalling acting by the lead character playing Lazarus, all he does is yell and act hysterical during every episode. As much as I appreciate Harlan Coben twists and turns, the series did not capture this at all and was just confusing. The high pitched mysterious music even when nothing is happening is distracting, and pretty much every character is one-dimensional and annoying both at once. I do not recommend this. Very disappointing.
Messy Execution of an Intreguing Idea
Usually I love a good thriller mystery, and if Sam Claflin is in it Im almost guaranteed to check it out. Unfortunately this is one of the ones that does t quite deliver. Claflin had 2 modes in this movie: flat nearly emotionless and extremely upset and frantic. And as for his Character, who is a forensic psychologist, he certainly doesn't seem to have a grasp on how his behavior is being perceived by those around him. They "solved" the mystery approximately 4 times which was more confusing than mind bending and trippy. And with an almost Cliffhanger style ending that ended in a way similar to the previous several episodes, i had to go make sure it was really the last episode.... Leaving more confusion and frustration with the whole thing instead of the sense of a completed story. Many of the "twists" and turns can be seen coming a mile away. And there are SO many twists again that I cant help but wonder if the writers were challenged to see how many twists they can squeeze into this mini series. But again, it failed at being interesting or making any sort of a point, and came across more as messy and poorly executed.
Its not un-watchable, it kept me interested to a point, but i had to force myself through every episode after the second one. I dont recommend this unless you cant find anything else to watch and you cant find something else to do. .
