FAQ

Sailor Moon Crystal

FAQ

Yes, Just with Different Animation Styles and No Fillers

While both series were based off the manga, one major difference is how the material was used. In the original anime, rather than following the manga faithfully, the story was told in its own way, often leading to storyline changes or omissions, such as several character fates were changed around compared to the original manga or several power-ups (namely the Planet Power upgrades for the Inner Sailor Soldiers and the Eternal Power upgrades for the Sailor Soldiers minus Sailor Moon) were removed.

For this anime however, it follows the manga much more closely, which also makes it more confusing for fans who watched the original anime, but never read the manga, due to the differences between both versions.

No, instead of making a new season for the series, it was instead decided that the following arc, the Dream Arc (which was loosely adapted as Sailor Moon Super S in the original anime) would instead by adapted into a two-part movie as part of Sailor Moon Eternal (2021). In addition the final arc, the Stars arc would also be adapted to a 2-part movie Sailor Moon Cosmos (2023). Rather both of these films would instead serve as continuation of this series as the de facto Season 4 and 5 for the Sailor Moon Crystal anime remake.
