It's just not Predator anymore...sigh.

This movie looked great, it felt good, and it had action...But this isn't Predator...lol it's just a move about monsters and creatures fighting...it's a kid's movie...Felt like I was watching a generic SciFi movie with good visuals...This isn't a horror movie anymore, if you think about it, this is the same story as Lilo and Stitch 🤣 the Predator IS STITCH...I PREY this is just a one-off spin-off type of movie...I actually liked Predator 2018 even though it had bad writing...this movie was just too child like for me...and i will definitely blame Disney for that....but of course, we all knew this would happen...So if you have kids just take them to see, but as for the older crowd, The presence of Schwarzenegger and a Terrifying human hunter has evaporated into dust particles!

An insult to original fans

I do not know why Imdb is erasing opinions that doesn't match with +7 stars or above with this movie. I know Disney always bans everything that they don't like, like criticism. So, hopefully I can express how disappointed I was watching this movie.

My opinion is that Disney has destroyed two of my favorite franchises of all time: Alien and Predator. My god. This new movie is a lame cartoonish network one. So, bad. No blood. No action, just a Chat GPT movie. Just superficial, empty without substance, like the real world today.

Predator: Badlands Brings the Hunt, the Heart, and the Hype

It's finally here, a Predator movie that doesn't take itself too seriously, yet remains incredibly well-made and thoroughly entertaining, Dan Trachtenberg, who already delivered the most serious and still the best Predator film to date with Prey, is clearly having a blast with Predator: Badlands, from the very first scene, the movie hooks you with one of the most exciting and promising intros in the franchise.

This is the closest we've ever gotten to seeing the Predator as an actual character, complete with personality, language, and depth, and it works remarkably well, adding to that, Elle Fanning is a great addition to the film, and the little creature named Bud also brings unexpected charm to the film.

Besides being one of the most excitingly entertaining films of the year, Predator: Badlands, in my opinion, the most wholesome buddy cop movie i've seen in a while, the beautifully shot, vast, and dark Predator world gives off Dune vibes for me, while the introduction of fascinating new creatures evokes a touch of Avatar, i genuinely adore the world building they've did in the film, it's visually stunning.

The action and fight sequences are exciting, and the Predator is as badass as ever, while the pacing slows down in the second half, overall, Predator: Badlands is pure fun, exciting, and wildly entertaining, i wouldn't mind another installment, as long as Dan Trachtenberg returns to direct it, because honestly, the best Predator movies are the last three, all under his direction.

Give Hollywood long enough, it'll ruin everything...

So after the Disneyfication of Star Wars and Alien, we finally get around to the abject ruination of the beloved Predator series. True, Shane Black came mighty close with The Predator back in 2018 and best not mention Alien v. Predator: Requiem at all but, in the excellent wake of Prey and Predator: Killer of Killers, hopes were extremely high for whatever Dan Trachtenberg would come up with next.

And then this. Predator meets the Mickey Mouse club or Predator and Stitch. Whatever, you get the picture. What we have been dished up here is the very furthest thing we could possibly have been given from the Predator we know and love.

I won't go into the depressing details of what we actually have to endure for the sake of the poor suckers who are going to spend their hard earned sheckles seeing this mess but I just need to say that Elle Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi give it their best... and that's about it. Too much CGI, not enough horror and absolutely no tension.

This is gonna take a lot of coming back from....

Really disappointed

I tried to keep an open mind coming into the cinema bur knew within 20 minutes this was going to be hard to sit through.

I can appreciate the director trying to expand the lore and Predator Universe but everything Stan Winston created has been watered down so 12 year olds can watch it.

What was once ominous, scary and flat out brutal has been replaced by heavy amounts of cgi, a story straight out of the Mandalorian that is completely tone deaf in terms of what this character used to be.

Family and kids will love it but for audiences that loved what the Predator used to be, stick with rewatching the originals because you are going to be very disappointed. Unfortunately yet again we are seeing the death of such a once great character so studious can make money from mass audiences.

It's Predator, just more comic book than movie!

This movie was highly anticipated by me. I am a fan of not only the movie, but more importantly, the comics! Anyone who is only watching the movies, is missing the backstories and sequels to the movies. I won't make this a long winded review, you can scroll anywhere else and read those. This is more of a "why" to the direction of the movie.

I'm glad I allowed myself to be open to new ideas regarding the franchise. This movie played to the comics ideas of the Predator aka the Yautja, and showed actual depth to them. It's very easy to get caught up in the idea of them being a villain only, and never understanding who they're an actual villain too and why. Like running into a tiger in the woods. It could kill you and still look majestic asf later while playing with its cub lol. The movie Predator gives us the look into the culture and family life of the Yautja. You don't see human interaction or hunting of humans. You see the evolution of a Predator and why its honor and anger are so one and the same. The lust for a better hunt is explained in the comics well and now for the first time, on screen from the side of the Predator. This is again, comic driven. Yes the comics get gory and graphic, but not all of them are about that too. This was a wonderful set up for future movies to follow. The action was on point. The comedic relief was needed. It's Disney being Disney and grooming the next wave of fans. Some of the characters are added in there I believe to make this less of a monster movie and more of an action movie. We have the horror style Predators. I feel like those did very little to expand the fan base and secure it for more generations to come. The horror style played to the already existing theme that older fans wanted to see.

Go see the movie and make your own conclusions. After that, look up the comics. There's so much more story that is explained outside of the big screen.

Should be called "Badlands" only.

This would have been a good monster vs monster movie if they simply took the Predator out of the movie and replaced with some other alien. The new Predator look nothing like the other clan members of the original movies, and has way more human qualities. Understandable that he was a weak clan member, but being dopey, scared, lied and cheated on is not exactly a predator.

Even if weaponry had no resemblance of the original predators.

This is a horrible PREDATOR movie

When I saw the character design for this film, I had a strange feeling that this was going to be bad. The animated movie KILLER was very good and this movie falls short.

Honestly, the cross over story, between WEILAND company and the Predator didn't work and as a result you get a bad movie.

The initial story premise was good, but the planet combined with the cyborg know it all defeats what could have been a good story.

Watch this at home on a rainy day. All of those idiots on Youtube tried to hype this up. It is bad.

Disnified

Cute creatures, a band of unlikely traveling companions, and a villain turned hero. It didnt take long for Disney to ruin Predator. There are some cool action sequences and effects, but overall hardly a Predator movie. Probably my least favorite of the franchise and a far cry from Schwarzenegger's original.

Disliked it very much

Sorry to say but this film is truly awful. It's cringe and cliche, the acting is wooden, the story has been done before so nothing new there. I would definetly not recommend this, it's time I have wasted I will never get back. I don't score 1/10 often but this was so bad I had no choice, sorry to have to say. Thank you.

May as well have been a generic disney adventure film

Whose idea was it to turn Predator into a beat-for-beat Disney-style adventure film? This is Predator in name only. There is virtually none of the horror, tension, or atmosphere from the original. It feels like a cardboard cutout, generic kids movie. It may as well have been a Disney Channel original.

I could not believe they included every stereotype: the quirky, annoying sidekick who asks endless questions while traveling, the cutesy creature the audience is supposed to adore, the forced found-family dynamic, and the overtly evil villains with shallow motivations. It's seriously reminded me of like this straight to dvd kids movies my parents bought for me when I was a kid. Unbelievable.

Why is it a comedy?

I only watched the teaser trailer and got really intrigued so had high expectations for this one. Color me surprised when it turns out to be a comedy after 20 minutes.

The plot has potential but instead checks off almost every cliche, we've seen this plenty of times before with humans. But why with an alien, that doesn't make any sense?

Key points with bad decision making: 1. Giving the predators dialogue - they've barely said anything before in prior movies.

2. Main protagonist predator showing his face 90% of the time - audience can connect with characters who doesn't show face 3. Making main protagonist weak just like any modern film today. It's not revolutionary, just weird. The predators are supposed to be ruthless hunters

Prey was much better and Elle Fanning had an interesting character but all joking was over the top. I expected a much darker sci-fi movie.

Utterly terrible

Until Elle Fanning's character, Thia appears (around 15 minutes into the film), it looks like a pretty good movie, but from then it instantly goes to garbage and stays there until the end. As if the writers, the director and the actress wanted to mold together every annoying character of the current era. The tone of the movie is absolutely out of touch, almost a Disney animation movie-like. Honestly, I didn't expect much, I thought if it was like Prey (2022), it would be a pleasant time, but it has become one of my biggest disappointment of this year.

Comedy CGI Cartoon

Tons of CGI action that just got my eyes tired. Predator loses all his gear when he makes camp in the middle of a nest of CGI plant monsters that are faster than vipers.

The rest of the movie, we are watching a mostly naked lizard / Predator fighting the planet's killer creatures. I was wondering if the Geico gecko was going to make a cameo.

The other main character is Dakota Fanning, playing some kind of android that got chopped in half. Predator spends most of the movie carrying her around on his back, and exchanging humor.

Predator is down to this, being treated more like a real "human" character but still a gnarly lizard. The suspense and scares that came in the first two Predator movies are gone. It is just CGI video game style action.

Excellent Sci-Fi Action

Predator Badlands is a great example on how to take a franchise in a different direction. The pacing of the movie is fantastic. Right from the beginning you get some lovely Yautja lore and breathtaking action. The story is simple and it does a good job of getting you from point A to B with plenty of fun surprises along the way. The action is a standout and I wouldn't be dismayed by the PG-13 rating because the kills are still awesome. The only difference is nothing red spills out, the gore is green, blue, white and lots of alien guts. The creature design is also a standout throughout the movie as well. Without saying much more I've been a Predator fan since the Arnie original. Anything Predator and I'll buy a ticket, even if it's as terrible as Predator 2018 or AvP Requiem. Predator Badlands is an extremely entertaining blockbuster from start to finish. Full of excellent action sequences, pathos and beautiful vfx. Definitely go see this in the theatre's if you're a fan, even if you have any trepidation regarding the creative decisions. I still think many Predator fans will find something to enjoy in Predator Badlands. Highly recommended.

Feels like I've already watched this movie a dozen times before

There's really nothing about this movie that earns the Predator name. The Predator doesn't hunt people, isn't a cold-blooded killing machine, and can't even turn invisible. It's a decent enough action movie, but it feels like something I've seen a dozen times before - a total waste of the franchise's uniqueness.

Not a predator movie

This is a decent movie if you are looking for a story and characters to love like the mandolorian. This is not a predator movie. It is watchable and very well produced, but it does not fit the bill for a predator movie. Predator shows emotions and sympathy. At one point, I swear you would see the predator crying if they changed camera angle. Very disappointing if you were looking for a classic predator film.

Predator: Badlands - A Toothless Hunt in the Desert

Predator: Badlands takes one of cinema's most terrifying hunters and somehow turns him into the punchline of his own movie. What was once a symbol of primal fear and ruthless efficiency has been reduced here to a character that feels more suited for a late-night parody than a sci-fi thriller. The film leans so heavily into forced humor that any tension it tries to build collapses under the weight of its own jokes.

The biggest issue is that the Predator simply isn't scary anymore. Instead of stalking its prey with cunning and menace, this version spends too much time engaging in quippy exchanges and slapstick moments that completely undercut the atmosphere. The creature design remains impressive, but all that effort is wasted when the tone never commits to horror or suspense.

The writing doesn't do the film any favors either. The story feels disjointed, as if several different drafts-action, comedy, sci-fi-were stitched together without much thought to pacing or coherence. Characters make baffling decisions, the dialogue feels flat, and the plot meanders without a clear sense of direction or urgency.

What could have been a return to form for the franchise instead feels like a missed opportunity-an awkward attempt to make the Predator "funny" rather than frightening. Predator: Badlands strips away what made the original concept so compelling and replaces it with tired humor and a messy script.

Verdict: A toothless, tone-deaf entry that turns a legendary monster into a stand-up act. 1/10.

Watch it with a new mind set

Great sifi movie. With a lot of humor and a new view of the Predator universe. The Genna planet is amazing, with death chalenges everywhere. I really enjoy this movie with my family anda i will see it again.

The people talk about the fans... What fans they are talking about? I´m a fan of predator and enjoy this new aproach as well. Go to cinema and enjoy a fantastic sifi adventure.

Predator Badmovie

The film starts off as a fairly solid Predator movie, with a clear focus on our new Predator. However, about 15 minutes in, the quality quickly declines. The CGI drops from impressive to something more reminiscent of a low-budget TV show. Around this same point, the story shifts almost exclusively to a new female character, who acts as a mentor to the hunter. While this change has potential, the film's biggest misstep is when the hunter awkwardly talks about his feelings and even performs a twerking dance moment, which feels out of place and disrupts the tone. Overall, the movie begins strong but struggles to maintain its initial promise due to these uneven shifts in quality and character focus.
