Chris and Zach were denied a Hellbenders show on Adult Swim.
This is an unfinished, unaired 15 minute pilot for a show pitched to Adult Swim based off a series of videos Chris & Zach made for YouTube. Adult Swim had to choose between Hellbenders and Mr. Pickles as their new show. They chose Mr. Pickles.
During a meeting that the show's creators Chris O'Neill and Zach Hadel attended in order to pitch their show, they had accidentally dressed similarly to their animated counterparts (Zach wearing orange and Chris wearing blue). Zach noted that when the man they were pitching to saw their outfits, he complimented them, assuming it was intentional.
According to to the show's co-creator Chris O'Neil, after pitching their show to a Hollywood company, the producer that they were meeting with said "that was the worst pitch I've ever heard."
