The Wu members reference Staten Island in several songs and have nicknamed the borough as Shaolin. Method Man also supplies the hook on the song "Ice Cream" off of the album "Only Built for Cuban Lynx" by fellow Wu member Raekwon.
The main character in this movie closely resembles the writer of this movie, Colin Jost, not only looks similar to the actor who plays Danny but also grew up in Staten Island, NY, went to Harvard, and is Irish.
