    Greek Mothers Never die !

This movie feels like a ride! Unpredictable, you never know what's coming up next. I also appreciate the mixture of different genres!

Great acting, fun characters and very true to the Greek culture, especially the mother-daughter relationship (very prominent in Greek culture) .

At the core of the movie, that's what it explores a mother-daughter relationship and that was so much fun to watch that unfold the way it did. There's sad moments, funny moments. You will cry and laugh at the same time!

I also like how the movie infuses music and supernatural elements into the story. It feels unique in that way!

It's a movie I was able to appreciate more the second time I watched it!

A Comedic, Warm-Hearted Movie That Highlights The Greek Family Experience

Greek Mothers Never Die is a comedic, warm-hearted movie. I really like this film and the way that it highlights the Greek experience. It's over-the-top dramatic in such an exciting way!

Greek Mothers Never Die follows the story of Despina (Rachel Suissa) and her daughter Ella (Abby Miner) who move from Greece to a small island in Florida after the economic crisis happening in Greece. Unfortunately, Despina unexpectedly dies, but she still finds ways to control Ella from beyond the grave. Ella is able to see ghosts of her mother, after struggling with her grief. Throughout the film, we watch Ella try to figure out who she is, and not be so alone. However, the burden of her overwhelming Greek mother takes her on a wild journey into discovering her identity.

I really enjoyed all the comedic aspects of this film. Getting to learn about the Greek mother-daughter relationship was really interesting to me. Seeing how overprotective Greek mothers are, yet so loving, and always putting their children first is so special. I could feel the energy and joy that this film created with the audience in the theater. For example, at one point, Despina is spying on Ella while she is interacting with a boy. This moment is quite funny, and something that people can easily relate too. Another standout is Rachel Suissa's talent. Not only does she play the leading role of Despina, she also directed the film, wrote the script, and wrote most of the music. Her work ethic and quality of work is extremely impressive. Rachel's passion and love for this project is so evident, and shines through as you watch the film. The storyline was inspired by her own life, making everything feel very authentic. There certainly would be no better person to take on this project than her. Lastly, the chemistry and connection between Abby Miner, and Simon Rérolle, who plays Nick, is outstanding. These two actors work so well together, and you can feel the love they have for each other bouncing off the screen. I learned that they had very little time from meeting one another, to filming, which makes their connection even more incredible. It is almost natural -- I found myself smiling at the screen because of their lovely admiration for one another. All of their moments on the boat dock are key to the development of their relationship, and establish such a genuine connection.

The message of Greek Mothers Never Die is to never take love for granted, and always listen to your heart.

I give Greek Mothers Never Die 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 12 to 18, plus adults. It releases on all streaming platforms May 9, 2025.

part stand-up, part sitcom, and 100% Greek mom chaos

Greek Mothers Never Die is a cheeky, indie rom-com that serves up feta-fresh laughs with a side of intergenerational trauma. Written, directed, and starring Rachel Suissa, this meta-comedy is part stand-up, part sitcom, and 100% Greek mom chaos.

The mother-daughter dynamic is part battle, part therapy session, and somehow, still sweet. But the satire remains reserved. The film could've gone full Greek chorus with comedic chaos, yet it opts for sitcom-safe instead. Even the included musical numbers are more questionable karaoke than Tommy Lee cool.

Bottom line: Greek Mothers Never Die is a tasty little comedy snack - but one that needs a little extra spice. Or at least a stiff glass of ouzo.

    Unbreakable Bonds, Sealed with Wit

Greek Mothers Never Die is a sweet, touching, and genuinely funny gem that hits all the right notes. It's one of those rare independent films that not only entertains but also resonates deeply, offering moments that are both laugh-out-loud hilarious and quietly profound.

The story captures the universal complexities of family life-especially the sometimes maddening, but always loving relationships between mothers and their daughters. It's deeply relatable, whether you're Greek or not, as it taps into those familiar family dynamics with warmth and wit.

What truly sets the film apart is its emotional honesty. Just when you think you know where the story is headed, it throws in an unexpected twist that lands perfectly-adding layers of meaning and leaving a lasting impression.

It's high-quality independent film that feels polished and purposeful, with strong performances, authentic writing, and heartfelt direction. Greek Mothers Never Die is a Celebration of love, legacy, and the unbreakable bonds that shape us.

A must-see for anyone who appreciates cinema with heart, humor, and soul.

    Very original and touching

It's a very unic movie, I laughed at loud many times, and at the end the emotional part really got me. The acting is great. I really enjoyed the strong musical aspect. A few elements reminded of the first My Big Greek Fat Wedding but above all it's a warm and humorous meditation on life and growing up with an eccentric morher and finding your path. And I really enjoyed the supernatural aspect! No spoilers, but there is a great twist in the last act. It's the kind of movie you wanna watch again!

Ps: I grew up with a Greek Mother that was very much like this Greek mother but no need to be Greek to relate to that story and enjoy that movie.
