More Blood and Guts from the Sunshine State

Blood, Guts and Sunshine 2: The History of Horror Made in Florida is the riveting follow-up to Blood, Guts and Sunshine, which debuted a couple of years ago. Sean Donohue and Chris James Woods return to masterfully examine this intriguing slice of Florida's film history.

Get ready to dive into the heart of Florida's vibrant independent horror film scene with this electrifying documentary. It uncovers some of my favorite films that I never knew were part of Florida's cinematic legacy. Featured films include Jaws 3D, Day of the Dead, Psycho IV, Frogs, Empire of the Ants, Edward Scissorhands, Shockwaves, Alien Dead, New Kids, and many more.

The documentary kicks off with a compelling opening, declaring Florida the perfect setting for nature-run-amok movies. From Hollywood blockbusters to low-budget gems, everyone loves shooting in Florida. The warm, sunny weather and the laid-back atmosphere make it a filmmaker's paradise, where shooting can proceed undisturbed.

It's puzzling that Hollywood isn't producing as many films in Florida as it once did, given the wealth of classics already made in the state. Sean Donohue and Chris Woods pour their heart and soul into this fact-filled documentary, showcasing their status as two of Florida's most prolific filmmakers. Their passion and expertise shine through as they continue to produce classics, all filmed in the Sunshine State.

This documentary offers a riveting exploration of Florida's unique contribution to horror cinema. Packed with exclusive interviews, exploitation elements, and never-before-seen footage, this 90-minute sequel is a treasure trove of cinematic madness. From cult horror to mainstream terror, it uncovers both new and classic films that have shaped this thrilling genre.

I particularly enjoyed Sean Donohue and Chris Woods' commentary. It was genuine and not scripted, adding a heartfelt touch to the documentary.

Featuring interviews with industry legends like Fred Olen Ray, Robert Emery, Donald Farmer , J. R. Bookwalter, Sean Donohue, Chris Woods, Dustin Hubbard , Zena Sade Dixon, Andy Lalino, Dave James Parker, and more, Blood, Guts and Sunshine 2 is a must-watch for cult horror enthusiasts. It unveils the untold stories and behind-the-scenes magic of Florida's horror film legacy.
