Not an Episode to Watch While Distracted

The Rookie is mostly background viewing for me. I put it on while making dinner or doing dishes or cleaning. Normally, this arrangement works out just fine.

I wouldn't recommend such an approach with this episode, which happens to be one of the better ones. There are a lot of moving parts, and keeping it all straight is important for the payoff. I had to go back and rewatch sections because my passive first viewing left me confused.

Good plot overall. I'm glad the contrived Chenshaw drama of the first few episodes has already passed. Give them something real to battle, not forced conflict because the writers make them degrade there communication to an unrealistic enough level to force conflict.

Here's hoping Aaron hooks up with his shrink.

    Exciting but confusing

Best episode so far this season, but the dialogue did not keep up the with the story, and it got very hard to follow. Great action, convoluted plot. I still really like the body cam POV and I hope they continue with that angle. Glad they got back to more action sequences.

But the plot made us work. I'm still trying to figure out what was going on with the victim's brother. Will have to go back and rewatch.

I know having a story arc/flow this season was going to be tough because of the strike, so I'm trying to keep my expectations were low. Still love the show, looking forward to the next episodes.
