An interesting short film about nightmares, horror, suspense and the life that an influencer can have. Reflecting very important issues that contribute to personal growth and that promote the good use of social networks.
"Vice Grip" is that short film that has a great proposal, but that in its last plot does not manage to perform in the best way. Having a lot of potential for a great experience, but it again falls into the same vicious circle of other short films. Director Dillon Vibbart did a great job that promises in his level of production, knowing what to do and the talent of it.
Short filming has much relevance in its approaches to camera, photography, musicalization and some special effects. In the aspect of makeup I think that it did not have much more effort to bring a more frightening or fear-transmitting spectrum, it usually looks very simple and flat, yet it has its merit. The short has some beautiful panoramas and that add to that approach of living a celebrity.
The interpretation of our protagonist Lana Spring is very formidable, despite not having dialogues as such, it does well, with decent expressions and a way to convey its events. At least that scream at the end was great.
The reflective approach to loneliness in an influencer person is very right, it is not unpleasant that it happens in many cases. Moreover, the way in which you have the absolute dependence of living on positive comments in the posts of different social networks. Having a beautiful life and luxury things are not synonymous with happiness. Many people have a false status and live only by appearance, being narcissists and liars. This short film is good because it emphasizes humility and sincerity, especially when you have a community.
The use of jump scare is fine, not surprising, but it's well executed. One to another forced, but formidable work. Good edition and great team.
We have a scene that easily reminded me of the movie "Creep (2014)" for a few seconds.
No doubt it has the potential, but it failed in its execution and the way in which it was all resolved, being a forced script, thus deducting many points.
