Stumbling upon the 2025 thriller "Deadly Escape" without ever having heard about it, of course I opted to give the movie a fair chance. But I virtually had zero idea what I was in for here, as I opted to watch writer and director Lakisha R. Lemons's 2025 movie.
Thankfully this wasn't a movie from Maverick Entertainment, which I sort of dreaded from the movie's cover.
The storyline starts out well enough and seemed to have lots of potential. But I have to say that the air deflated from the balloon rather quickly once the tables turned in the narrative. At that point I was just starting to find my interest in the narrative waning as the movie dragged on and on.
Needless to say that I was not familiar with a single actor or actress on the cast list. But that was actually something that spoke in general favor of the movie, as I enjoy watching unfamiliar and new talents on the screen. The acting performances in the movie were okay; nothing grand or memorable, but okay for what it was.
What started out as a nice thriller ended up being a befuddled mess of a heap of a storyline, which ultimately didn't really entertain me all that much. Hardly a movie that I would recommend you to spend 90 minutes on watching. Nor is it a movie that will ever grace my screen a second time.
My rating of writer and director Lakisha R. Lemons's 2025 thriller "Deadly Escape" lands on a generous out of ten stars.
