We have another busy week of home releases to look forward to, with an array of films that hit a bunch of different subgenres. For those who may have missed it in theaters earlier this year, you can now catch up with Charlize Theron in Atomic Blonde this Tuesday, and if you missed seeing it online this fall, Amityville: The Awakening hits both Blu-ray and DVD as well.

For you cult cinema fans out there, I hope your wallets are ready for some serious damage, as there are a ton of great offerings coming home on November 14th, including the gorgeous limited edition Hellraiser Steelbook, The Paul Naschy Collection II, J.D.’s Revenge, and Arrow’s stunning Blu-ray set honoring one of horror’s true greats—George A. Romero—that features HD releases of Season of the Witch, There’s Always Vanilla, and The Crazies.

It’s awful, it’s terrible, it’s difficult to watch — but it’s finally available in its original 3-D, in the improved Space-Vision process. A giant monkey attacks Seoul, trashing cardboard buildings, toy boats and a dead shark (and it’s not shamming). Keep a good movie on hand to rinse this one away immediately afterwards. Not recommended for people taking prescription medication. If simians persist, consult your doctor.

They say home video 3-D is in trouble, but viewers properly equipped are presently experiencing a renaissance in retrofitted and refurbished 3-D features.

Chris Petrikin, chief communications officer for 20th Century Fox, will leave the studio at the end of the year.

Petrikin plans to form a strategic communications and crisis management consultancy and will retain Fox as a client.

The executive joined Fox in February 2007 from the William Morris Agency. Prior to that he was an entertainment reporter.

Exclusive: Afghan war film expands after two-week Vue window.

Afghan war film Kajaki: The True Story is to expand its theatrical run to Odeon, Showcase and other venues following an exclusive two-week booking at Vue Cinemas.

Odeon will show the film at 17 cinemas from Friday 12 December, following a regional premiere at Odeon Colchester - the hometown of both the Parachute Regiment and of Stu Pearson, one of the veterans depicted in the film.

Showcase will show the film at six of their cinemas, with Kino Hawkhurst also opening the film on December 12.

Vue Cinemas have also committed to show the film for a third week, with other independent UK exhibitors in discussion to take the film.

The film took £55,000 from 81 Vue cinemas on its first weekend (however only 34 venues played it across all showtimes) and stood at £116,018 as of December 7.
