What I think sets this film apart is that it's a film Detroit based by Detroiters not imitating the Detroit culture and aesthetics. Growing up in Detroit we sometimes faced really hard times, crippled in poverty, low food and supplies and stent times unsupervised as kids as our parents worked hard for crumbs. This style of up bringing up drove some to make hard decisions and choices to survive while some made it out and some ended up facing consequences of jail or worse - death. It could sometimes feel like a dark cloud and not being able to escape or see a way out beyond your block radius. This series brung those memories back to the forefront and the world needed to see. If you got to know the makers behind who created this epic series you'll see there is a way out and you can hold on to the reality that you too can make it out of those dark times.
