Filmed in the South Island of New Zealand.
One of the WANTED posters uses a famous picture of Robert E. Lee.
Shot on digital, when originally planned to be shot on 35mm.
According to director John Maclean, the original idea in writing the script
came from a desire to link the British costume drama of the Merchant Ivory
kind costumer with the film genre of the American western, incorporating the conflicts of the time of the
Scottish class system between the tenant crofters and the land-owning lairds. He said: "But I really started with a blank page, two cowboys
standing in a wheat field, and then the story just grew and grew over a
couple of years."
