Boring

Mees Kees, which is shorthand dutch for 'schoolteacher Kees', is a kind-hearted primary school teacher in a small village in The Netherlands. He seems to have many ambitions, but is poorly judged by his boss, principal Juf Dreus. Also, Kees still lives with his mom, which constitutes one of the main plot lines as Kees is requested to learn to take care of himself by living on his own.

The characters are lovely and are well delivered by the strong cast. The problem with this movie lies in the script. It is very thin. Nothing much happens and the humor is sparse. I understand that this movie is for children, but this doesn't exempt the makers of putting a little more depth or creativity in. My own 2 kids (4 and 7 yrs) were also rather bored.

Boring & incoherent

Boring and incoherent story about Mees Kees. Even our seven year old wanted to go to the Dikkie Dik movie halfway...which is a movie for toddlers.

Almost all humorous elements are already shown in the trailer, we expected a lot more laughing which wasn't the case. Sad faces of our 2 kids during the movie most of the times.

The side story of Tobias, one of the children in Mees Kees class room is a weird addition in a messy storyline. Hard to grasp for younger kids what it was about and why this happened in the story.

I would advice not to go to this movie if you want to have a nice time out with your kids.

My kids loved it

Just to counter the other review of two kids, my 5 and 9 year old and a friend of 9 years old loved it. I agree the story is kinda bland and a lot is shown in the trailer (which movie nowadays doesn't do that) and some things young kids don't get. But that's just the fun part for parents.

A lot of other things they liked very much. All the classroom jokes/fun, the robot building, the banter between Mees and Dreus. The Knight stuff. The robot entry of Mees Kees. The stick shooting robot at the end. The Knight biking into the water 🤣

Anyway, definitely recommend it. Maybe it doesnt work for younger kids < 5.
