This season was a real disappointment outside of the lip sync lalaparuza episode and perhaps a couple others. This finale was the icing on the turd cake. The producers clearly wanted Nymphia to win from the start and it was very evident throughout the season that they'd crown her regardless of the other queens' performances throughout the season, which made this episode extra disappointing. It wasn't coincidental there was an excess of design challenges given that it's the only skill Nymphia is stellar at, nor was it a coincidence that there weren't any improv challenges outside of Snatch Game or comedy challenges like a roast because Nymphia would've probably flopped the hardest like she did in Snatch Game. Nymphia was saved from lip syncing in Snatch Game despite having perhaps the worst performance in Snatch Game history outside of maybe The Vixen's Blue Ivy from season 10. Sapphira is particularly a clearly stronger performer, especially when it comes to comedy, acting, teamwork, hosting, and improv. The only area Nymphia is significantly better in is her sewing abilities and her higher budget for runway looks. Performances during the finale were lackluster, especially compared to GODDESS from last year. Sapphira's was the best and most end tertiary number by far, but her outfit wasn't the best. The lip sync for the crown was okay, though both Sapphira and Nymphia seemed frantic. The seemingly coolest moment from Nymphia was when she copied Brooklyn Height's Bootylicious lip sync from the season 11 finale by doing a handstand on the wall and then dropping into the splits. Would've been more impressive if Brooklyn hadn't already done it, and Brooklyn did it much better. Nymphia's outfit and reveals were somewhat interesting but didn't fit the song at all and felt out of place. Lackluster lip sync for the crown overall, especially following up season 15's lip sync for the crown in which Sasha Colby gave SUCH a strong performance and rightfully won. Not surprised by the result from this finale though as, again, it was evident throughout the season that Nymphia was the production's favorite and choice to win from the beginning, so it felt extremely anticlimactic and forced, especially given that Sapphira demonstrated that she was the stronger and more consistent competitor throughout the competition.
This entire season has been horrible in terms of production choices, particularly those that favored Mhi'ya and Nymphia (Mhi'ya being saved from the bottom 2 during the SNL challenge and being saved over a frontrunner later, Nymphia being saved from the bottom 2 during Snatch Game and the Bathroom Hunties episode) not to mention the plethora of design challenges which helped build Nymphia's case to win RuPaul's Seamstress Race. Sapphira wss the frontrunner, as she was clearly a much more well-rounded performer who excelled in comedy, acting, and teamwork challenges that Nymphia struggled horribly in. Nymphia did not impress enough in this finale to deserve the crown. It is clear the show made the decision to crown her because she was a "fan favorite" after attracting a larger crowd of new and very young watchers and viewers from outside the USA. Evidence of this is clear in some of the lip sync song choices throughout the season as well. Very disappointing to see the direction this show is taking to crown the person who will gain them the most audience rather than the queen who deserves it the most. Won't be watching the show anymore after this extremely disappointing season.
