The Gromov family - grandmother Vera Egorovna, her daughters Ira and Liza and pregnant granddaughter Olya with her henpecked husband Tolik - have lived all their lives in the center of St. Petersburg in a large communal apartment. Finally, they decide to leave and spend their shares of the apartment in their own way. But when collecting documents, it turns out that Dima, Ira's ex-husband and Olya's father, an alcoholic and manipulator who left the family a long time ago, is still registered in the apartment. Dima's long search leads nowhere, and suddenly he himself appears on the threshold of the communal apartment. The Gromovs will not only have to say goodbye to their plans, but also live together with Dima, who every day he goes on drunken sprees and behaves antisocially. It is impossible to get rid of him in an amicable way, and out of despair the women decide that Dima must be killed.
