That puts it just above the Season 2 premiere, which reached nearly 2 million in 2023. Both totals represent a combination of Nielsen measurement of Showtime’s linear airings and Paramount Global’s first-party data regarding streaming.

According to Paramount Global, the episode also achieved the series’ highest streaming viewership ever, with a 58% increase compared to the Season 2 premiere, though it should be noted that this isn’t an apples-to-apples comparison: Season 2 debuted back when Showtime was its own service, whereas Season 3 is being released well after Showtime was rolled into Paramount+, which has a larger subscriber base.

“Yellowjackets” is off to a running start. Season 3 of the Showtime original debuted to 2.03 million global viewers across platforms, according to Nielsen live plus same day measurements, internal streaming data from Paramount+ and global average minute audience data taken during the episode’s first three days.

Season 3’s debut was the most-streamed premiere in the history of “Yellowjackets,” according to Paramount. Previously, the series was available to watch on Showtime’s streaming platform before it was moved to Paramount+ with Showtime. The Season 3 premiere notably outperformed Season 2’s premiere by 58%.

Severance is definitely punching above its weight with the debut of Season 2, giving Apple TV+ a rare spot on the Nielsen streaming charts.

With the release of the second episode of Season 2, the series drew 622M minutes viewed across all episodes in the U.S. from January 20 to January 26, placing it at No. 5 on the streaming originals list. That’s one spot lower than the series was on the charts the week before, but it is a higher viewing time than the Season 2 debut week, when the series got 589M minutes viewed.

Nielsen says around 43% of the viewing total went to Season 2’s two new episodes, which indicates there is still a pretty big portion of the audience watching or rewatching Season 1. That could bode well for its future trajectory on the charts as the season progresses.

Exclusive: Dexter: Original Sin ended on a high note over the weekend, measuring a finale audience that grew 27% over the December premiere.

The finale tallied 2.68M global viewers on Paramount+ with Showtime, according to Paramount Global. This includes the three-day streaming audience that tuned in once the episode became available on Friday, as well as any same-day viewers that watched when the episode aired on the linear network Sunday night.

It was the most-streamed episode of the season, Paramount Global says, up 30% from the premiere’s streaming audience.

The company did not provide streaming-specific numbers, but the claim is supported by the 27% increase in total viewers over the weekend.

The as-yet-untitled series is said to be focused on a new Slayer and “the next chapter in the Buffyverse,” with Gellar appearing in a recurring role rather than a leading one.

A “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” sequel series is in the works at Hulu, with Sarah Michelle Gellar attached to return.

The new series is nearing a pilot order at Hulu, an individual with knowledge told TheWrap. The next chapter in the Buffyverse will see Gellar return as the titular character, though the new series will primarily follow a new slayer.

The pilot will be directed by “Eternals” director Chloé Zhao based off a script written by Nora and Lilla Zuckerman. 20th Television and Searchlight TV produce the show.

The Zuckermans will also executive produce the pilot alongside Zhao and Gellar. Additional EPs include Gail Berman, Fran Kuzui and Kaz Kuzui, who EP via Suite B; and Dolly Parton, who EPs via Sandollar.

Variety has learned from sources that a sequel series to the beloved show “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” is nearing a pilot order at Hulu.

Sources say that Sarah Michelle Gellar is in final talks to once again play the iconic title character in the untitled project, although it would focus on a new Slayer and Gellar would appear in a recurring role rather than leading the series.

Nora Zuckerman and Lila Zuckerman are attached to write, showrun, and executive produce. Chloé Zhao is attached to direct and executive produce under her Book of Shadows production banner. Gellar would also executive produce along with Gail Berman. Fran Kuzui and Kaz Kuzui will executive produce via Suite B, while Dolly Parton will executive produce via Sandollar. 20th Television and Searchlight Television will produce. Berman, the Kuzuis, and Parton were all executive producers on the original “Buffy” series.

The fourth season of the Showtime series Dexter saw the title character, a serial killer who targets other killers, going up against a homicidal creep called the Trinity Killer, played by John Lithgow. A family man with a wife and two kids (their home life isn’t as happy as it appears), the Trinity Killer (a.k.a. Dexter fans everywhere lost their minds not only when Showtime announced a long-awaited sequel to the hit series, but also when news of a prequel hit the airwaves. Dexter: New Blood premiered in November 2021 to underwhelming reviews, and prequel Dexter: Original Sin premiered in December 2024 to raving reviews, and is currently airing on Showtime and Paramount+ with Showtime. With the prequel approaching its end this February, the franchise’s second sequel is gearing up to make a big ole bloody splash—er, excuse me, spatter. Michael C. Hall has revealed that production has officially begun on Dexter: Resurrection and is on track for a summer 2025 premiere.

Hall shared the exciting news when he took to social media to confirm he is, indeed, “looking forward to taking another thrill ride”, and to us taking the ride with him. He of course reprises his role as America’s favorite vigilante serial killer.

Hollywood star Uma Thurman is set to join Michael C. Hall in “Dexter: Resurrection,” the newest addition to Showtime’s popular “Dexter” series. Thurman will play Charley, a former Special Ops officer who heads security for mysterious billionaire Leon Prater.

The series, now filming in New York, will debut this summer on Paramount+ with Showtime. It picks up where “Dexter: New Blood” left off, with Hall returning as the complex serial killer Dexter Morgan and continuing his role as narrator.

Several fan-favorite actors are returning to the show. David Zayas will be back as Detective Angel Batista, while James Remar returns as Harry Morgan, Dexter’s late father. Jack Alcott will continue his role as Harrison Morgan, Dexter’s son.

She worked as a Special Ops officer and in the world of private security before becoming the right-hand woman for Prater. Of course, the Golden Globe winner and Emmy nominee is most known for her work in movies like “Kill Bill,” “Pulp Fiction” and “Hysterical Blindness.”

Hall is set to reprise the titular role of Dexter Morgan, a blood splatter expert who doesn’t just solve murders but also commits them. The actor played Dexter for eight seasons during the show’s original run from 2006-13, followed by “Dexter: New Blood” in 2021 and he currently narrates origin story “Dexter: Original Sin.
