Pop Culture Jeopardy! (2024)

Pop Culture Jeopardy!

9/10

Colin Jost *is* my humor - never have I had so much fun knowing so few answers.

Having the dynamic of three teams with three players each means you can have more human to human interactions in the show. Colin's little jokes, and everyone taking it in good fun, really makes it such a positive space. Polycules, couples and friends, even returning Jeopardy contestants, it's just fun. With everything going on in the world, having this fun escape is just that: Fun. I've gone full games only knowing four answers but the way it all goes down is just so entertaining that I don't care.

Also. Legitimately. There have been some ridiculous comebacks. One's you can't help but cheer for while going, "Oh noooo! What!!? What?!" Just good. Wonderful content.

As I've now read some of the negative reviews, allow me to add some extra bits: Pop Culture is a vast category. Pop Culture trivia games at bars regularly have teams, this is just an extension of that niche. It does not but mean there aren't still people who know plenty of historical facts. Further still, if one thinks Colin is 'over-the-top', then I'd like to suggest watching game shows from either Japan or Mexico to receive better context for what 'over-the-top' actually entails.

Pop Culture Jeopardy is a fun watch with a funny SNL alum as the host!

If you love Jeopardy and/or familiar with pop culture, then you'll love this spinoff. Pop Culture Jeopardy is a fun and unique twist to the original long-running game show, as instead of 3 individual players, it's 3 teams with 3 players in each team. The 81 teams would then go into 4 elimination rounds: the Knockouts, the Quarterfinals, the Semifinals, and the Finale Game, in order to win a grand prize of $300,000 in the finals.

The gameplay is similar to its parent show: Jeopardy round, Double Jeopardy and Final Jeopardy, respectively; but in tournament mode, playing by points rather than money amounts. But in addition to having 1 Daily Double in the first round and 2 in the second round, both rounds have one Triple Play, which gives teams a chance to triple the value of the clue if every member of their team gets the 3 responses right.

As for Colin Jost, he is the perfect host for this spinoff imo, keeping the game moving while also throwing jokes of his own during the game as well. Ever since he joined Saturday Night Live as the anchor for Weekend Update, I've been a loyal fan of him and Michael Che as well, so I can't wait to see what surprises that PCJ has in store for us! The theme song for the pop culture spinoff is also wonderful as well, taking it back to the 80s and having a remanence sounding of the Rock & Roll spinoff, thanks to the wonderfully talented group of Bleeding Fingers Music!

To end it off, I wish PCJ nothing but the best and I highly recommend it to Jeopardy and/or pop culture fans!

P. S., if there's ever a pop culture spinoff of Wheel of Fortune planned, do get Michael Che as host as it'll make an amazing crossover with the 2 shows!

Entertaining

Yes, it's not the brainy Jeopardy! It's pop culture Jeopardy! The questions are challenging. I thought I would be able to answer most of the questions, but sadly that's not the case. Which leads me to wonder, where the heck are they coming up with this stuff? And do the contestants know the answers. I know close to nothing about K-pop, how a band got an idea for a song or the name of the director to a movie I never heard of and I like to think I'm plugged in!

This Jeopardy is entertaining! Mission accomplished!! So don't knock it!! Collin Jost is a natural!! He does a fabulous job as host! In my opinion (as a viewer), this show should deliver what it promised. To take it to the finale!! I'm dying to see who wins!!

Only Jeopardy I Will Watch

I don't know what these other reviews are on but they don't like having fun! I think this show is full of charisma and actually one of the most entertaining shows I've seen in a long time.

Colin Jost is the best host and one of the main reasons I love this show. It's so much more fun than any regular Jeopardy out there and the team aspect is entertaining and unique every episode. If you want to answer the smartest jeopardy questions then maybe this won't be your favorite show, but I love pop culture and feel like I can relate to this show the most! The humor is a little dry and always funny, so give it a try. Or just watch the normal jeopardy and keep the negativity to yourself.

The perfect Jeopardy show I would watch!

I know there are many versions of Jeopardy separate from the main Jeopardy, but this version of Jeopardy, Pop Culture Jeopardy, is perfect for fans of pop culture alike!

Pop Culture Jeopardy is the perfect Jeopardy show I would be watching on Prime Video!

I remember watching the first few episodes one month ago, and I know every pop culture topic from movies / TV / gaming / music / celebrities / etc.

I really hope Pop Culture Jeopardy gets renewed for multiple seasons because this one is a must-watch Jeopardy show for pop culture buffs alike!

When I was in Westfield High School, I was in a class entitled Pop Culture Class for 12th grade (senior year) and I knew I would be a pop culture buff.

Highly recommend this show!

Get a different host!

Please get a different host if you make more episodes of Pop Culture Jeopardy! This guy Colin Jost thinks he's funny but he definitely is not. Patton Oswalt, Felicia Day, Chris Hardwick or Wil Wheaton would be a huge improvement if one of them were the host.

In general, I like the format of three teams of three players. I was intrigued by the triple play clue and like to see more of them per game. It's fun hearing the story behind each team's name and how they know each other. I would love to see a celebrity version of this show either with their relatives or former co-stars.

I probably would have given this show 8 stars if it had a better host.

Wholesome Deliciousness

Oh, come on, it's just a light fluffy show and I love it. I'll watch it sometimes when I eat lunch or whatever, it's got a nice even upbeat pace without being too over the top.

Hosting this thing is not easy, and I think Colin Jost is doing a fantastic job.

Is it perfect - no, but what is perfect? For me it's the perfect thing when I just need to turn my brain off for 15 minutes from the badness and madness that is happening around me. And I don't underestimate the value of that.

It takes an episode or two for them to really hit their stride, and it also took me an episode or two to get used to it. But once I was, I fell in love.

The second quarterfinal show was so amazing that I was buzzing afterwards.

I really hope they keep making these - I think it could become as popular for streaming as regular Jeopardy. My friends are obsessed with it and we tell everyone we can to watch it. I think if they keep making episodes, it will find its audience.

Check it out if you just want some marshmallow in your life.

"I'll Take Bad Game Shows For $200"..

Let's see.....Where to begin.

1) The host is LAME, he has the charisma of a comatose patient.

2) The team format is stupid, feels like the show can't decide if it wants to be Jeopardy or Family Feud. And just like Family Feud, most of the contestants are unlikeable. So it's difficult to root for anyone.

3) Most of the trivia (and the overall feel of the show) is catered to a Gen Z audience. I could easily see this version of Jeopardy being added to the already horrendous programming on MTV or E!

To put it simply. After suffering through five episodes, I had enough. As a big fan of trivia, I'd rather play Trivial Pursuit by myself, than sit through another episode of this drek.

Put that in your Daily Double.

Lol

Tragically stupid. This show is proof that the American education system has collapsed. 3 teams, 3 people per team...lol. To answer pop culture questions.... What a shocking eye opener! Well at least for anyone able to understand the blatantly obvious. We will need some shovels to lower the bar any further, we have now hit the bottom!

And the irony that people started down the path of irreversible stupidity by using smart devices...lol.

I used to laugh at the lunatics on the streets holding up signs like "The end is near". Now it's becoming clear they know what's coming.

So go into the abysmal future America! Never knowing how ridiculous you have become.

Colin host might be the blandest human ever

This show would be better if each team didn't have 3 members. The questions are far easier than normal Jeopardy, so why are there now 9 people instead of 3?

I'm continually amazed that Colin Jost is famous, he's the least charismatic snl performer ever, and that's saying something. But I guess when you're super boring and plain, you are never in danger of rocking the boat of threatening power. But even so, he has zero personality or interesting quirks. Isn't he supposed to be funny or something? Why doesn't he crack any jokes on this show?

The questions don't really get much harder than the most basic buzzfeed quiz, and the moments in between the actual trivia parts are cringeworthy and annoying.

Ehh, No Thanks...

I have watched all six episodes, so I truly gave it a good shot. It's not really something I'm going to continue watching. Unfortunately the hosts jokes are neither funny, or endearing, or entertaining. He's too over the top. We already have countless game shows that are insanely over the top that you can't even watch it, but that's the state of our society, people no longer know what is over the top and ridiculous. The thing I like about the original Jeopardy is that has always been more sophisticated and , and people are behaving in a well-mannered way. I get that this is a lot more fun to a different population. In fact, if I play trivia myself I like the pop trivia, music or movie trivia the best. There's just a spark that is missing, and without that spark it makes this show just a bit dull.

Creepy deviants guessing facts about the downfall of what is now considered entertainment

Formulaic postmodern garbage where contests are proudly showcasing creepy mannerisms to telegraph their deviant behavior. Most of the men exude extremely creepy chomo vibes. Colin Jost is too dry to land a joke so everything just Falls flat and you feel sorry for him. Making it into teams of three ruins the spirit of Jeopardy which makes you want to root for the one contestant and becomes chaotic and annoying to watch. The writers are terrible and it makes the contestants more confused trying to figure out what the heck they're talking about. Pop culture is a category on real jeopardy but this is overboard and gets old really fast.
