The Luckiest Man in America

Edit

Factual errors

Johnny Knoxville (Talk show Host) asks Michael Larson if he knows him and suggests "not from America's Most Wanted right?", yet AMW does not appear on television until 1988, 4 years after the game show events.
VHS tapes founded after breaking in ice cream van are marked "E-180". They are PAL/SECAM cassettes. in USA NTSC-system cassettes were marked "T", i.e. T-120 for example.
In the movie, when asked the question about the three men in a bathtub, Ed Long rings in and gives the answer "Nod" as the third man. In the actual Press Your Luck episode, it is Michael who rings in and gives the answer of "Nod."
Larson is portrayed as getting $2000 on his first spin, then $1500 and a spin (a space that was only in the second round on CBS), and then hitting a Whammy to go back down to nil. In reality, on the original 1984 CBS broadcast, he got the Whammy first, then hit $1250 twice with his remaining spins to end up with $2500 at the end of the first round, which is what he would build on in the second round to his historic total.

Anachronisms

One of the technicians on the show suggests Michael to "slow your roll". This was not an expression in the 1980's.

Audio/visual unsynchronised

When Michael is exposed eye tracking the light board. His eyes follow them, but in reverse camera angle his eyes should have been looking in the opposite direction because he was looking at the board behind the cameras.

Errors in geography

The phone number for Lyle Roberts that Michael reads from the card during the Home Spin segment is 513. That is the area code from Cincinnati, not the Cleveland where Lyle is from.
