Soulless remake
I'm not sure who asked for this remake, but it certainly wasn't fans of the original. "Vi på Saltkråkan 2025" feels like a watered-down, soulless imitation that strips away everything charming about Astrid Lindgren's classic world. The cozy atmosphere and heartfelt character moments are replaced with cheap jokes, flat performances, and a painfully modern tone that clashes with the setting.
Instead of updating the story with care, the show simplifies everything to the point of boredom, as if viewers can't handle nuance anymore. It tries to be nostalgic while ignoring what made the original special. In the end, all you're left with is a shallow, forgettable copy.
Just rewatch the original instead. This remake only proves how unnecessary it was.

A warm and modern take that captures the true spirit of Saltkråkan
The new Vi på Saltkråkan is a beautiful and heartfelt reinterpretation that preserves the timeless feeling of summer, friendship, and freedom while naturally reflecting life in 2025. It feels sincere, tender, and made with genuine love for Astrid Lindgren's world.
It's clearly created for children and families of today, yet it never loses the soul of the original. The modernization feels effortless and gives the story new life without taking away what made it special in the first place.
Simply put, it's a worthy, vibrant, and heartwarming version of Saltkråkan that reminds us why some stories will always feel like home.

A Breezy Return with Uneven Modern Touches
The new adaptation of Saltkråkan by SVT offers a charming and visually delightful return to the beloved Swedish archipelago, capturing much of the carefree spirit that made Astrid Lindgren's original so enduring. With sun-drenched landscapes, playful children, and a palpable sense of summer freedom, the series succeeds in evoking nostalgia while introducing the story to a new generation.
The production values are commendable, and the atmosphere remains warm and inviting. There's a genuine affection for the source material, and the ensemble cast delivers heartfelt performances that feel true to the tone of Lindgren's world.
However, the attempt to modernise the series is less convincing. Certain changes-such as the transformation of Malin from a young girl into a single mother-feel more like forced updates than organic developments. Similarly, the inclusion of race swaps, while perhaps well-intentioned, lacks narrative justification and risks distracting from the story rather than enriching it.
While these choices may resonate with some viewers, others may find them somewhat contrived. The balance between preserving the original's charm and introducing contemporary themes is not always seamless.
In sum, Saltkråkan (2025) is a pleasant watch that retains much of the magic of the original, though its modern flourishes occasionally feel out of step with the gentle rhythm of the story. Still, for those seeking a summery escape with a familiar touch, it offers plenty to enjoy. That said, it seems unlikely that this new version will attain the same iconic status as the original-or linger in the memories of today's children well into adulthood.

Terrible
Ok, I really tried to give this remake a chance, but it's painful to see how they ruined it. The plot is pretty much the same, but the characters are much weaker. Also, it's a bit of a hassle to make the series modern. The funniest thing was that vegetarian dishes are included in a remake. I don't know if it was irony towards this remake, but unfortunately it was probably a serious attempt to make the saltkråkan "modern".
Modern take of the Iconic Saltkråkan
I had an open mind but this is a ruined version of Saltkråkan. The warm feeling and funny atmosphere is completely gone and way too trendy. I don't like how they have portrayed the movie in this way, could have been done a lot better or not at all. Curious what other people's opinions are on this new series!
