My Military Valentine

I really dont understand the low ratings on here. This drama is at least an 8 for me personally. Its cute, funny, and surprisingly heartfelt. Its also short, each episode is only around thirty minutes long. So in my opinion its a perfect weekend binge. Nam Gyu Ri is great in this as a super tough soldier/spy. She is also gorgeous! You cannot convince me that she is 39 years old!! The ML does a good job portraying the spoiled, helpless idol as well. I think they both share some good chemistry together. Is this drama going to change your life? No. But is it worth watching once, especially if you have a free weekend or are in a slump between dramas? Absolutely! So give it a try if youre in the mood for a fun easy going rom com.

Nam Gyu Ri is so pretty and versatile. She is surprisingly convincing as a military woman with her deep voice and serious demeanor but still very cute. Her action scenes are good.

Her co star is too boyish looking for her, too short and he looks like he wears lipstick. She really looks better with the secondary lead Song Jae Rim. If only someone like Jung HaeIn or Park Hyung Sik could have done it. Surprising performance by Steve Noh of Pachinko as an English speaking soldier that is sometimes painfully exaggerated during his comic parts.

The directing seems a bit strange. The story jumps forward missing certain explanatory scenes. If the continuity had been better this series coul have been quite good. Rarely wish a series would have been longer but this one needed more crucial plot scenes and could have removed some unnecessary scenes.

The premise has potential reunification and romance. There are some good scenes and quite a lot of effort. Too bad it wasn't better executed written and the male lead wasn't more suited to her.
