Romanticism vs. reality
The balance between the epic poem of faith and humanity and the mundane parts of life that, in times of war, become colored by violence and hate is wonderfully interwoven through the story of one family. It begins and ends with love. Solid
Okay, just to be clear, this is neither the best nor the worst Croatian film ever made, but it definitely ranks among the better films about the Homeland War. My issue with the film is that it follows the book literally, so after about an hour, the movie "thins out" and loses momentum.
The technical execution of the film is nice, and the actors are superb. This is not a film for everyone; it has quite an aggressive stance toward enemy (or to be exact Chetniks and JNA army), but, I repeat, it follows the book (based on the actual events) by Marijan Gubina (which is allegedly even more brutal), so there is nothing to fault there. In the end, the film does offer some kind of a happy ending and the possibility of coexistence.
However, the film fails to explore the characters in depth, leaving them rather superficial, essentially black and white. I should read the book to see whether the characters are portrayed the same way there.
It's great to see Tim Roth in a Croatian film, but unfortunately he's on screen for only about 15 minutes.
I know there are those who dislike Sedlar's work and automatically go in with a "heavy critique", but I repeat, whatever anyone says, this is not a film like his works from the 90s.

Great movie!
260 Days is a powerful and deeply moving film based on a true story - one that leaves no viewer indifferent. The director captures not only the brutality of war, but also the depth of human suffering, the strength of survival, and the moral weight of the evil that took place in Dalj. The film doesn't beautify or distort the truth; it presents the facts with honesty and painful precision.
What resonates most is the realization that for many crimes, including those portrayed in the film, no one has ever been held accountable. Nationalism, as depicted through real human lives, appears as a virus that infects people and awakens the worst in them.
Yet despite everything, the film carries a message of hope - that after war, life must go on, and that peace and coexistence remain the only path forward in a world soaked with injustice and destined never to be perfect, no matter how much we wish it to be.

great movie, deep, serious, strong
Based on a very sad and hard true story. It is very brave for the author of the book that he shared the truth.
It also shows how Croatian people are family oriented, brave, strong, proud and religious.
You can understand balkan people and their motives, hard feelings.
End was very powerful and emotional with an open question for the public and suggestion of peace.
I know that this is only one story out of many other, even harder stories from Croatian Homeland war. I would like to learn more.

Naravno, evo na engleskom:
"This is an excellent film-definitely a thumbs up and something everyone should see. It's the story of an incredible man who went through the hell of war and yet remained positive. Even today, he dedicates himself to promoting peace, forgiveness, and educating others-especially children-about the harsh realities of the 1990s wartime period. The film left a powerful impression on me, and it's truly hard to stay composed after watching it, realizing just how difficult those times really were."
