I thoroughly enjoyed this show. I was quite disappointed to see that there were only two seasons of Boomers. I'm assuming that there might be some stark differences in what is considered to be funny in the US versus what is deemed humorous in the UK as I noticed a lot of poor reviews for this title. I guess that might explain the show not making it past two seasons. That, or the writers were just ahead of their time as I am watching this 10 years after it was created. I rated it a 9/10 as the pace of the show does seem to slow done at times, but overall, the writing, the acting, and the chemistry amongst the cast mates were wonderful.
Truth is, I find Boomers very funny. Again, it is not supposed to be dramatic or intense, just something that is for the laugh. You can sit back and enjoy it with your family. Most people judges Boomers from the start but I believe that it has quite many potentials. The show does, indeed, get funnier later on in the series. The show is entertaining, wonderful cast ( mostly Philip Jackson, who I can recognize from Poirot) and is very relate-able.
I find the characters sharing personality traits that I can see in my older relatives. I believe that the people who were quick to give this show a 1 star were expecting a more dramatic, silly kind of comedy show.
Boomers is your old-fashioned sitcom, funny and relate-able.

Ah - this is prime fare for retired Waitrose farts - gentle, undemanding comedy that does not require too many brain cells to fire at the same time. The cast is good and their likeability is the key attraction of this series - it is comfortable, simplistic and pleasant waffle with the occasional musical accompaniment and a contrived amusing social situation.
There's a large amount of inconsequential nattering - it's like eavesdropping in a murder-free Midsomer. If you have the patience for it then it will probably afford you a few gentle chuckles but this is largely forgettable stodge.
I've given it a 6 because I failed to laugh at anything in it but I sort of enjoyed it all the same...

I recently stumbled upon this gem on Netflix and I must say, even though I am in my 30s, I found it incredibly funny, silly, and clever. It reminded me a lot of my parents, who also have a great sense of humor. The writing and acting were top-notch, with the cast showcasing amazing chemistry on screen. I found myself drawn to all the characters and their quirks. Overall, it was a delightful discovery that I highly recommend to anyone looking for a good laugh and a heartwarming story.
Not sure about the low ratings, perhaps a younger demographic or used to a different type of comedy.

Let's start with a cast of seasoned, talented actors, who understand how to deliver subtle, arch, and breathtakingly clever comic dialogue, and then having talented writers who can produce it for them. Well, it just doesn't get better than this. Then add the subtle cinematography, which frames the action sympathetically. This is a gem of a television show. Nothing is obvious or seems to be overly wrought. And it has a very natural flow. Except that the dialogue has one funny thing after another in it. Concepts intricately overlap, and you never quite know where the show is headed. As a show dealing with lives starting to come to an end, I think it has no peer. That tepid, mindless, televisual chloroform that is ""Last Tango in Halifax" can't begin to hold a candle to this show. THIS is how it's done. Bravo!
