Even though I'm a fan of St. Denis Medical, I feel this episode has to be one of the worst or most irresponsible episodes of this show's short run.
I guess it was okay for the writers of this episode to just let it ride that a severe case of disrespect and cultural exclusivity is okay in the workplace. Or that when you have a problem with a co-worker over a parking space that it's okay to either not apologize to each other and/or come to grips that what transpired was wrong on both of your ends.
First off, you have a disrespectful nurse in Rene (Nico Santos) who leads this Filipino Mafia of three (as it's called) at the hospital. He says and does what he wants and then he has these two sycophants who follow him like some blind sheep.
Rene's disrespect comes to a head when he chastises and talks mess about his supervisor (Alex) in Tagalog (the primary language of the Filipino culture) in the break room. Then when Alex calls him out on this exclusivity exercise, he later reports her to the hospital's executive director!!!
And before that break room incident, Rene defies Alex's directives to take care of a patient in one of the rooms he was assigned to, then he just goes ahead and ambles to another patient's room of his choice with him getting smart with Alex (while he's working on a patient, so unprofessional) when she checks him on his defying her orders. Wow.
Then there was the Serena and Ron incident. Instead of them apologizing to each other for their parts in the parking fiasco they have a weird and insincere moment where they zig and zag over who is to blame. And you won't believe how this little parking space feud ends!!!
I didn't like the Filipino Mafia storyline, and that Rene character better be a one-off thing because if it isn't I'll skip whatever episode he or that mafia is on.
