Ranma ½ (2024)

Trivia

Ranma ½

Edit
Kappei Yamaguchi, Megumi Hayashibara, Noriko Hidaka, Minami Takayama, Kikuko Inoue, Kôichi Yamadera and Rei Sakuma reprise their respective roles from Ranma ½ (1989) and Ranma ½ (1989) of Ranma Saotome, Ranma-chan, Akane Tendô, Nabiki Tendô, Kasumi Tendô, Ryôga Hibiki and Shampoo.
Ken'ichi Ogata, who played Ranma's father Genma Saotome in Ranma ½ (1989) and Ranma ½ (1989), narrates the show.
In the Latin American dub, made in Mexico, dearly remembered voice actors reprised their roles, like Rossy Aguirre as Akane Tendô, Bardo Miranda as Soun Tendô, Mayra Arellano as Kasumi Tendô Martín Soto as Jusenkyô's Guide, Magda Giner as Cologne, José Antonio Macías as Mousse and Daniel Abundis as Happosai. It's unknown yet why both voice actors for Ranma Saotome, boy and girl version, didn't return.
Based on a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Rumiko Takahashi. It was serialized in Weekly Shounen Sunday from August 1987 to March 1996, with the chapters collected in 38 tankobon volumes by Shogakukan.
The meanings of the main characters' names and surnames: Ranma = Rebellious Horse, Akane = Madder flower, Genma = Black/Mysterious Horse, Soun = Fast Cloud, Kasumi = Mist, Ryoga = Good Fang, Tatewaki = Sword Wearer/Belt, Kodachi = Little Fat Sword, Tofu = Eastern Wind, Saotome = rice planting girl (literally: fast/early strange/witty woman), Tendo = Destiny (literally, Way of Heaven), Hibiki = reverberating sound/echo, Kuno = Nine Skills.
