A horror loop in broad daylight

I like the story of The Hitchhiker, although it's by no means unique in the horror genre. What sets it apart from similar stories, however, is the loop the two men have obviously entered and the fact that all events take place in broad daylight. Typically, this kind of horror scenario would unfold at night. In hindsight, the film wasn't scary at all, mostly because the daylight makes everything feel too alive. I'm not sure if the video is a concept for something larger; if so, it could certainly be further polished. Notably, it seems the video was filmed vertically with a smartphone, emphasizing its nature as a short.
