The Primrose Railway Children

The original version of the movie The Railway Children is an endearing classic.

The Primrose Railway Children was reimagined by writer Jacqueline Wilson from Edith Nesbit's story.

This updated modern tale has Sarah Robinson moving her three children Phoebe, Becks, Perry to a remote part of Scotland after their dad had suddenly gone away for business.

Young Phoebe is sure that mum and dad have split up. Maybe mum is having an affair or dad do something wrong.

In their new village two of the kids get interested in the steam locomotives but Mr Brown the stationmaster is the gruff sort who seems to dislike the kids.

This BBC adaptation was buried away in the Christmas schedules. I'm not surprised, it is not very good, lacks charm and is rather dull.

This is not destined to be average never mind a classic.
