This series managed to set a viewer record for a national TV drama premiere in Norway when on 4 January 2015, 24.3% of the Norwegian population was watching the first two episodes. It was also 62.5% of the total TV viewing at the time that Sunday.
In a documentary, the UK special-operations team SAS tried once to survive on Hardangervidda under similar conditions, but didn't manage.
The character of Knut Haugland is also portrayed in Kon-Tiki (2012), set in 1947, where he is described as a war hero and legend for the Telemark raid. He is portrayed by actor Tobias Santelmann, who in this series portrays the character Joachim Rønneberg, a fellow saboteur of Knut Haugland.
