Enjoyable thriller about terrorism , Russian Mafia , Islamism and killings ; plenty of emotion , profanities , thrills , mayhem and surprise ending . It was entertaining , great actors , colorful photography , and a super soundtrack . Javier Falcon is a cool Spanish Chief Inspector based in Seville Spain . He is the brainchild of a British crime writer, Robert Wilson, who combined crime solving and the psychological development of the hero in a series of mysterious novels starred by Javier Falcon, Chief of the Homicide Division in Sevilla . As Falcon (Juán Diego Botto) has to figure out two different cases in a short period of time . The flick revolves around the conflict between Russian mobsters and Muslims . Nowadays , an old friend (Alberto San Juán) who long time ago CNI had sent as an undercover agent to investigate a network of Islamic terrorists asks him for help . As a Jihad cell is recruiting among the youngest applicants to become themselves suicide-bombers and his son is now being aggressively recruited for their cause, then seeks out Falcon's help . In the meantime, the Russian mafia that he's been investigating has abducted Consuelo's (Paz Vega) son , she is Falcon's lover , and the ransom they are demanding is far too high, then things go wrong .
Thrilling film plenty of shooting , ambushes , pursuits , intrigue and plot twists . This one is Manuel Gomez Pereira's return to top form ,an intelligent and engaging script which uses moving situations to give us a good movie in a high suspense and complexity and that kept me entertained for the almost 109 min of duration . There is superb characterisation , suspenseful, dark, brooding and edge of the seat stuff. Falcón is a crime drama that prefers to look at the people in the crime rather than the formulaic evidence gathering of CSI, this gives is scope to explore the fiery passion and emotion of the roles and mirroring the Spanish and Morocco surroundings . It was cleverly performed, well written and a breath of fresh air to the genre . The plot is often so surprising in places, you never know quite what to expect. But the way it is written is that you discover the story step by step , filled with red herrings , fake clues , surprises , twists and turns . Falcón is a brilliant detective whose personal and professional life is compromised by dark secrets from the past . Pay attention the starring couple : Juán Diego Botto and the international/Hollywood Spanish actress Paz Vega , two young as well as veteran actors , their roles are very well played , supported by a fine secondary cast as Albert San Juán , Francesc Garrido and Cuca Escribano , giving decent interpretations , as usual . The only flaw I can find is that some of the story lines are left unexplained and some roles and happenings end up being implausible . The other issue I had with the flick is that I found it very hard to follow. Otherwise, the photography and the locale were perfect . The storyline is but also confusing, murky, at times ; and meandering with flash-backs , though sometimes dialog is clichéd , predictable and non-understanding for the strong Andalucian accent . The film gives an adequate description of the Jihad in Morocco , and how the extremely religious Muslims make fanatic boys to sacrifice themselves taking place a culture-colliding among citizens of diverse religions , as a terroris group has infiltrated an Islamic terrorist cell in Sevilla , as these cases intersect, Falcon must decide who he can trust and how he can protect those he loves most before time runs out. Furthermore , a colorful and evocative cinematography by Aitor Mantxola shot on location in Sevilla and Morocco . Suspenseful musical score by Federico Jusid , he composes an excellent score in Hitchcock/Bernard Herrmann style . Rating : Better than average Spanish thriller , you will be glad to saw it . The picture will appeal to thriller buffs and Paz Vega/Juán Diego Botto fans .
The motion picture titled The Ignorance of Blood (World-wide, English title) was well written by Nicolás Saad and efficiently directed by Manuel Gomez Pereira . Manuel usually writes his films and occasionally for other directors as "What Makes Women Laugh?" by Joaquin Oristell who in "Love Can Seriously Damage Your Health" is screenwriter and producer ; both of them are ordinary collaborators . Pereira is an expert on comedies as ¨¨Rose sauce¨, Why do they call it love when they mean sex ?¨, ¨Mouth to mouth¨ , "All Men Are the Same" , though he also has made some drama as ¨The hanged man¨ and this ¨Between your legs¨ . His latest projects, however, tanked as "Off Key" starred by an American-all star cast but was a failure both economically and artistically or simply didn't deliver as "Atrévete y Verás" . Nowadays , he directs TV chapters as ¨Gran Reserva¨ and ¨Cheers¨ series .
This character about ¨Falcon¨ had another nice rendition : the TV series Falcon (2012) directed by Directors: Gabriel Range, Pete Travis , starred by Marton Csokas , Hayley Atwell , Santiago Cabrera , Charlie Creed-Miles , and Kerry Fox .
