Elevates the spirit with humanity
We are all the same, we are all beautiful and ugly and happy and hurting. It's a crazy emotional show and gave me feelings that I don't think I've ever had before and probably never will again. I snort laughed and ugly cried within minutes of each other. The feeling is of something like distilled bittersweetness. The characters are AMAZING. The restraint in the acting is perfect. The score drives it home. Production values are high. The choreographies add depth. The screenplay is brilliant. Everything feels like you're peeping through a keyhole at something real. Believe the hype. It's a masterpiece. Reminds me a bit of Magnolia. But it's distinctly a Montreal gem and that really seals the deal for me. Magic. 10/10.
Outstanding.
This show is heartbreaking but simultaneously heartwarming at the same time. I can't remember the last time a TV series (if ever!) has moved to tears, to then have me grinning from ear to ear a few moments later. I've absolutely fallen in love with this show. I rarely ever leave reviews (I'm not the best writer to be honest) unless I feel like something has had a profound impact on me, like this show has. I started it on chance, without having a clue what it was about or seeing any trailers for it & I'm so glad I did. It is beautifully written, the way it delves into a characters past moments, slowly unveiling their stories while also leaving some mystery around them is just masterful. The on screen chemistry between the lead actress Suzanne & Mortimer is one I've not seen for a long time. The way they both slowly open up to each other so heart warming & captivating, it really has you routing for them both. There are so many scenes I'm genuinely smiling & laughing along, this is what television is all about isn't it? A must watch!
A Québécois Masterpiece - Simply Outstanding
Empathie is without a doubt one of the best Québécois series I've ever seen. I would easily compare it to 19-2... but honestly, it's even a notch above.
The musical choices are brilliant, the cinematography is stunning, the acting is remarkably genuine, and the writing is excellent. The directing deserves special mention - this level of quality is rare, even in film. All the ingredients come together perfectly, executed with outstanding precision.
Emotionally, it's a rollercoaster: from out-loud laughter to heartfelt tears, and everything in between. And the acting... where have these talents been hiding all these years?
Florence Longpré is a true revelation. Over the 10 episodes, she delivers an incredibly intense and sincere performance. And what about Benoît Brière? His scene with Longpré in episode 3 might just be one of the finest moments in Québec television history.
The entire cast pulls us into their world with authenticity and depth. You grow attached to every one of them. It's moving, powerful, and deeply human.
Treat yourself to this gem of Québécois television. You won't regret it.

Not to be missed!!
I thought I was going to watch one episode here and there because I feared the subject would be too heavy. It is not. Don't hesitate to jump in, you'll be happy you did.
I actually had to pace myself, I was HOOKED after the first episode. The development of the story, the delicate way the characters are presented, their stories, the intrigue. The casting is just insane. Being from Qc I knew all the actors expect a few of the French ones. All of them are absolutely wonderful. Everything is so well balanced, it's amazing to think we'll be blessed with a season 2. Just can't wait already.
This is definitely one of the best series in Canada right now, and will be for a long time! It's well worth registering to Crave to see it!
