The Johnburgh Hotel used for the key location was only in operation for less than forty years between 1882 and ceasing to operate near the end of World War 1. For a few decades after its public life, the one-time Johnburgh hotel functioned as a private residence. Director Mathew J Wilkinson when cleaning up the location for filming discovered a drivers license dated back to the 1920s. Since filming, the hotel has continued to deteriorate with large sections of the roof and verandas now missing.
