The use of the word "sale" instead of "sell" in the title is intentional. The term, "hard sale" is sales vernacular for a transaction difficult to achieve. The title, "The Hard Sale" indeed is about a transaction difficult to achieve (in the case of this film, it is difficult for the salesman and consumer respectively).
The idea of the short film came to mind while Buddy Chambers was watching a Twilight Zone marathon on the Fourth of July. The story is heavily influenced by anthologies like The Twilight Zone, Tales from The Darkside, etc.
The name Gregory Enfer is a clue about the character's true evil nature. Enfer is a French word which means "hell".
Santio East who plays Gregory Enfer previously worked with Buddy Chambers on his previous film, "Lessons" as The Thin Man.
J.D. Driskill who plays Sam, previously worked with Buddy Chambers on his previous film, "Lessons" as Matt.
