    Ok, I get it.

I almost hate watched around 4 episodes of this. It almost looked like an SNL skit of people dressing up as your favourite Dexter characters and playing younger more stupid versions of them...

Then comes the last two episodes. Yes it's still very camp and ridiculous but I've gotta admit it's got very good. Patrick Gibson really embodies the Dexter we know and love in them final few scenes.

It is well shot and made, bouncing between some comedy and thriller tonal shifts. I'm glad I powered through this!

How to ruin a show in one episode

Dexter: Original Sin does not capture the essence of the original Dexter series, but it's good because it maintains its own essence and path, until now the 8 chapters had been very good, it was not the same but they respected what they did in the original series, One of the most important parts of Dexter's story was the birth of his dark passenger. In chapter 8 they had done excellent with Laura and Brian, but here... here they ruined everything, The container is not the same, it is not in the same place, the police do not match, Brian's position does not match either. This was one of the high points of Dexter: Original Sin and they completely ruined it, they didn't respect the original series from 2006 and made their own garbage. Now on to Spencer and Brian. For starters, the places where Dexter kills don't make sense. Are you seriously telling me that Dexter made his killing room in the arcade? If you do something like that in real life it would be a very stupid idea, the killing rooms in the original series make sense because they are remote and no one would find out. Now Brian, Brian kills the old lady on a rooftop with a chainsaw. Seriously?, is he idiot?

Do you really think you can kill someone with a chainsaw on a rooftop in a busy city AND NO ONE WILL SEE YOU? What was that? Tell the writers and directors did a terrible job, they ruined the essence of Dexter and his legacy.

Two sides of the same coin

Its a delight to see . Its such perfectly made with little to little detailing. This episode features no side drama or hilarious moments, just raw satisfaction , failure & conjoined scenarios. The violence was great but not tipping which is perfect and it just enhances the first season of Dexter in so many countless ways .. its beautiful. Its natural . Thus pretty haunting...

I hope they don't meet otherwise people are going to be extremely crossed. So THEY ABSOLUTELY SHOULDN'T.

Everything else has been done with keeping an eye for season two i hope . Missed Gio & missed his hot fiance. And I can not wait for the Ending Sure some people are going to hate it But i hope the current case about father loosing his Son case gets Solved . And that above mentioned point. That's a huge NO .

WE ALL GOOD OTHERWISE Its all leading up to season 1 of Original Dexter & with so many references that, its next to awesome !

    Now I separate you!

The Dexter franchise, as it should be called by now, put out another masterpiece with Original Sin. 'Blood Drive' is the shows best episode yet, bringing back original Dexter atmosphere at its finest.

Patrick Gibson is superb in this episode, as in the entire series. His hunt for Spencer to find Nikki is tense, funny and interesting. The flashbacks are relevant and perfectly executed as never before. Seeing Dexter's brother Bryan attempting to kill Deborah was shocking!!!

And last but not least the last scene of the episode. A classic Dexter moment. I just let the characters talk:

"You separated Dexter and me! Now I separate you!"

    Pathetic writing

Up until now, I've been rather indulgent and benevolent with the series, despite its writing facilities, weaknesses and shortcuts. But the treatment of Brian here is absolutely ridiculous and simplistic, as is the tinkering with Deb.

Nobody's asking this series to be mind-blowing, but this is just plain stupid.

Yes, we know where we're going with this story, but that's no reason to connect the dots in the least subtle and clumsiest way possible.

This isn't the first time the series writting is disappointing, but it is the first time it has fallen into such crass simplism. It's a pity, because the idea of this prequel holds up relatively well.

    • Trivia
When Debra meets LaGuerta for the first time, LaGuerta is sitting at the desk where Debra eventually sits years later after transferring into the homicide unit. LaGuerta is also dismissive of Debra when she tries to start a conversation. This mirrors, once again, how LaGuerta would be dismissive of Debra years later when she presented theories on homicide cases.
    • Goofs
The arcade game Dexter is playing on has a modern flat screen instead of a curved CRT display which would be common in 1991.
