Ratri, the daughter of a prostitute, does not know who her father is. Since she was a baby, she was raised by Nyai Santi, a wise and respected gowok (a woman-in Javanese culture-who is hired to teach men about household chores and sexuality before they marry). Ratri grew into a beautiful and talented girl, educated to continue Nyai Santi's gowok knowledge. Before her time, Ratri fell in love with Kamanjaya, a teenager from a prominent family. They made love and Kamanjaya promised to marry Ratri, but he broke his promise. Twenty years later, Ratri meets Kamanjaya again who has now brought his son, Bagas, to study under Nyai Santi. Bagas falls in love with Ratri without knowing their parents' past relationship. Ratri uses her charm to take revenge.
