Lizzie broke her cell phone when she dropped it in the basement. The screen looked shattered. Later in the movie she is recording on her cell phone a message and the screen is fine and the phone is working.
The phone Jared found in the 10 year flashback at the beginning was the latest iPhone model. That same model is then used by a few of the protagonists during the current time.
