A Call for Help from Sing Sing!

This portion of a Hearst Metrotone newsreel has been preserved by the National Film Preservation Foundation and is available for viewing on their website. It's an editorial piece, as the warden of Sing Sing shows us four very young men wearing domino masks, and then says that most of his new admissions are less than 24 years old. Of the six million men out of work, most are under 30, and the only path to getting any money is crime.

That's what it was like in the depths of the Depression.
