Really bad - The title is misleading

This is pretty much unwatchable and badly done on about every front. I really did my best but I think there's about 20 minutes left and I just can't get through it. Oh, and by the way, it took that long to even get to a point where someone is talking about surviving Lake Lanier. Even then its someone who can not swim, who is on a float in a big body of water without a life jacket and then gets pushed off her float

Basically it's about Forsyth county having still a present day racist undertone and a guy cant get a vacation home on a short term rental because they are scared he will rent it to black people. That's 90% of it.......... Also the woman saw a tree under the water as if that's unique from any other lake.

He touches on a few interesting things, but then blows it with the presentation and finds a way to make it not interesting. Didn't even mention The Lady of the Lake or Chicken Trucks going of bridges to create giant catfish, etc, etc. Or so as the tales goes.

He wanted this to be about racism in Forsyth County. And I don't doubt that he's wrong about that. And with his misleading title and implications that Forsyth is trying to keep black people off the lake, he has fulfilled and contributed to just the thing he claims Forsyth is orcastrating.

This is not about surving lake lanier. He probably has a story with Forsyth but this is a jumbled mess.

    Is there a zero star?!?

Wow, where do I even begin with this cinematic travesty? Honestly, if you're considering watching this, do yourself a favor and don't. A high school film class could produce something far more coherent, entertaining, and, frankly, less painful to sit through than this mess. Actually, scratch that-a bunch of middle schoolers with iPhones and a free afternoon could outshine this embarrassment.

First off, let's talk about the narration, if you can even call it that. Trying to follow it is like trying to navigate through a maze blindfolded, with someone spinning you around every few seconds for good measure. It's so disjointed and incoherent that it feels like they just threw random lines together without any regard for the plot or the audience's ability to comprehend it. It's as if the narrator himself is just as lost as the poor souls who decided to watch this. Half the time, I couldn't even tell what they were talking about, and by the end, I didn't care. I was just praying for it to be over.

Now, let's get into the "guest speakers." Oh boy, where do I even start with this clown show? They have about as much credibility as a reality TV star giving you stock market advice. One of these "experts" runs a party house-yes, you heard that right. A party house. Because, clearly, that's the kind of life experience that makes someone an authority on the subject at hand. And then there's the other guy who, get this, sees demons when he's high. I'm not kidding. That's the kind of "insight" we're dealing with here. I mean, seriously? Who thought it was a good idea to bring these people on as guest speakers? It's like they found these guys at a sketchy bar down the street and decided, "Yeah, these are the voices of authority we need."

The whole thing is so ridiculous that it's almost funny-almost. But then you remember that you're wasting your time watching it, and the humor quickly fades. I watched this trainwreck with a group of people, and let me tell you, half of them couldn't even make it to the end. They actually had to leave the room because it was so excruciatingly bad. I've seen people walk out of bad movies before, but this? This was a whole new level. It wasn't just bad; it was unbearable. And the people who stayed? Well, we suffered through it together, like a support group for survivors of terrible cinema. "Know whata mean?" If you know, you know-and trust me, you don't want to know.

And then there's the dialogue. Oh my God, the dialogue. It's like they went out of their way to make it as cringeworthy as possible. Every line feels forced, every attempt at humor falls flat, and don't even get me started on the attempts at being profound. They're about as deep as a kiddie pool. It's almost like they were trying to see just how bad they could make it before the audience would throw in the towel. Spoiler alert: they succeeded. And then some.

Honestly, I feel genuinely sorry for anyone who has to sit through this. Whether you were tricked into watching it, roped in by friends, or just curious, I offer my deepest condolences. There's no redeeming quality here, no hidden gem that makes the torture worth it. It's just bad. So, so bad.

If you haven't watched it yet, take this as your warning. Save yourself the time, the money, and the brain cells. Go to YouTube, watch literally anything else, and thank me later. You could spend your time watching paint dry and come away with a more enriching experience. At least then you wouldn't be subjected to whatever the hell this was supposed to be. Because, frankly, even the worst cat video compilation on the internet has more entertainment value than this atrocity.

In conclusion, this "film" is a complete disaster from start to finish. A high school film class could, without a doubt, do better than this. Hell, they could do better in their sleep. If you value your sanity, stay far, far away.

    So much to learn

This film felt like an official space where real people were safe to speak about their experiences with Lake Lanier and Oscarville. It's a good starting point if you've only ever heard whisperings of the lore and want a slightly more substantial source than hearsay and social media tidbits. I've already begun looking into the history of Oscarville after watching.

On another note: THIS IS A DOCUMENTARY that relies heavily on testimonials from relevant individuals. If you go into this experience with that in mind, you may just learn something. After all, what is history but a collection of stories.

"THEY NOT LIKE US.THEY NOT LIKE US"

All I can say is this is a reminder that "THEY NOT LIKE US, THEY NOT LIKE US!" I encourage everyone to not only check out this film but to share it with a friend, or a co-worker, and pay a few bucks to see it. We have to support one another and this film is a perfect example of how to do that. When we share our stories, we honor the legacy of those who carved a path for US!!!

We must remember. We must commune with one another. We must tell our stories to our children so that we can alchemize the trauma and spin it into gold. To the team that made this, keep going. Do like DJ Khaled and give us..." another one" lol I'm playing. Beautiful film!

    Informative Piece

I think this was a good watch for someone who has never heard stories or have minimal knowledge of the history revolving around Lake Lanier. I think there should be an emphasis/focus on documentaries like this to bring it to the public's sight. I only heard about it recently due to a tweet online, without the tweet, I wouldn't have known this documentary even existed. The history is rich and should be a catalyst to help cultivate the minds of not only the local community, but for human on earth. I appreciate the information provided in this documentary and will be doing further research because of it.
