The Harlan Coben takeover isn't anywhere near over yet, as the best-selling author looks to make history with his latest television show. While Coben has a number adaptations coming to Netflix that are in the works, his latest series that was just announced isn't coming to the streamer, and it's marking a first for the prolific author turned television mastermind.
On May 7, CBS announced its fall lineup for the 2025-2026 television season, and Harlan Coben fans had quite the surprise. Harlan Coben's Final Twist was included on the broadcast network's schedule for the midseason lineup. Some might have assumed it's a brand-new mystery thriller that's headed to traditional TV rather than Netflix, but it's Coben's first foray into true crime and the first time he's putting himself in the spotlight instead of just his stories.

It was an “uneconomic deal.”
That’s how CBS topper George Cheeks described the decision to say goodbye to the Grammy Awards ceremony, which has aired on the network for more than 50 years. In October, Disney snatched the rights to the annual music awards show in a 10-year pact.
It was a major loss for Paramount, but Cheeks told reporters Wednesday that “we just weren’t prepared to make an uneconomic deal.”
“My very strong view is that you have to take a very disciplined approach to all of these negotiations,” Cheeks said. “We’ve had a great relationship with the Grammys. We’re excited for them, and you know, we wish Disney/ABC all the best.”
Cheeks then touted CBS’ “robust” slate of upcoming specials that includes the 83rd annual Golden Globes hosted by Nikki Glazer, the 77th annual Emmy Awards hosted by Nate Bargatze, the American Music Awards emcee’d by Jennifer Lopez,...

CBS is betting big on brand loyalty this fall, rolling out a franchise-forward primetime schedule that includes new expansions of NCIS, Blue Bloods, and FBI alongside a slate of star-powered unscripted series and first-time ventures.
Coming off its 17th consecutive season as the most-watched network, CBS is focused on delivering “viewer flow” through thematically linked programming blocks and powerful IP.
The biggest surprise is that they’re doubling down on Taylor Sheridan away from Paramount+ with two new shows, one reality and one carrying on the Dutton universe.
(John Paul Filo/CBS ) All In on Franchises
Tuesdays become an NCIS lover’s dream with a triple-block lineup: flagship NCIS, NCIS: Origins, and the international-flavored NCIS: Sydney. This is the first time CBS has fully devoted a night to the NCIS universe — and it’s likely to pay off.

Harlan Cobenhas established himself as one of the world's bestselling mystery and thriller novelists, and his books have been adapted into countless original series via a massive deal with Netflix. But now, Coben is preparing to take on something new: the author will host an unscripted true-crime series called Harlan Coben's Final Twist for CBS as part of the network's new slate of shows.
Not that many details about the upcoming series have been released. However, it has been revealed that Final Twist will feature hour-long episodes, hosted by Coben, that take viewers "through gripping tales of murder, high-profile crimes and life-altering surprises, each meticulously unraveled to reveal hidden truths, deceptions and lies," according to a synopsis from CBS. "With exclusive interviews and never-before-seen archival materials, the series will provide an in-depth look at stories where nothing is as it seems."

For a second year in a row, CBS presented a full-season schedule for 2025-26. It features a lot of franchise-branded blocks, including two hours of FBI on Monday — the mothership, moving from Tuesday, joined by new offshoot CIA — a three-hour NCIS “Super Tuesday” and new spinoff Sheriff Country paired with Fire Country on Friday.
In addition to Sheriff Country and CIA, CBS’ 2025-26 schedule includes two other new scripted series, comedy Dmv for fall and Yellowstone offshoot Y: Marshals, starring Luke Grimes, for midseason. It is one of two new CBS series produced by Yellowstone boss Taylor Sheridan from the Paramount side of the company, along with new music competition The Road, one of four new unscripted CBS shows on the 2025-26 schedule. Held for midseason is freshman drama Watson.
Here is CBS’ schedule, which CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach said emphasizes flow, compatibility and lead-ins, followed by analysis and description of the new series.

The world of Yellowstone is getting a new outpost — and a new network.
CBS has ordered a spinoff of the hit western as part of its 2025-26 slate. Currently titled Y: Marshals (with the “Y” standing for Yellowstone, naturally), the show will star Luke Grimes, who will reprise his role as Kayce Dutton from the flagship series as he joins an “elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy Seal to bring range justice to Montana,” per the show’s logline. It’s set to premiere in spring 2026 and is one of seven new series the network will roll out next season.
Spencer Hudnut (Seal Team) will be the showrunner on Marshals, executive producing with Taylor Sheridan, John Linson, Art Linson, Grimes, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin and Bob Yari. As with all the Yellowstone-verse series, the show comes from MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios.

The Equalizer as well as FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International may have been yanked from the CBS schedule, but execs on Wednesday were still touting the strength of the three dramas.
When boasting about its top performers from the 2024-25 season, all three shows were given shout-outs by CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach. But the net still opted not to renew The Equalizer for a sixth season, Most Wanted for a seventh season, and International for a fifth as part of its pickups for 2025-26 that included eight new shows and 18 returning ones.

CBS struck a blow for the business of late-night television earlier this year when it revealed it was moving out of programming the 12:30am slot.
This came after the network canceled After Midnight, hosted by Taylor Tomlinson, when the comedian decided she wanted to return to her “first passion” of touring.
CBS President and CEO George Cheeks, who came through in late-night at NBC, said that the network is still optimistic about the day-part – it has the top show in The Late Show with Stephen Colbert – but admitted the loss of an hour was a blow.
“The day part is challenging from an ad sales perspective. I love our hand, we have the number one person at 11:30pm for the last nine years, and we still do believe in the day-part, but it is a challenge,” he said.
Colbert extended his deal to host The Late Show in 2023 for three more years,...

It’s official: a Dutton is coming to CBS.
The network has ordered the Yellowstone sequel Y: Marshals (working title) for its midseason lineup. The new drama will feature Luke Grimes reprising his role as Kayce Dutton, who joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals. It will air on Sundays at 9 P.M.
The official logline has Kayce “combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy Seal to bring range justice to Montana, where he and his teammates must balance family, duty and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region’s war on violence.”
Deadline first wrote in March that Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone universe was eying further expansion beyond Paramount Network and Paramount+, and that the potential offshoot would air on sibling CBS. Sources said showrunner Spencer Hudnut had been working on ideas for over a year for...
