This is just an absolutely ridiculous show.
Doesn't even try to ground itself with a few shreds of fact based medical or maritime reality.
It's one thing to suspend disbelief for an hour, it's quite another to be asked to surrender your intellect on this grand a scale.
This may be the worst show ever aired.
I can barely process what i just saw it's that bad.
Bad scoring, bad lighting, bad acting, bad writing, bad cinematography, bad directing, ludicrous plot line.
Even worse, it's apparently a two-parter.
All i can figure is that somebody was owed a big favor to get this thing into production - or that somebody has pictures.
Not sure why Don Johnson attached himself to this mess.
He still looks great and can still act, the only possible explanation has to be that he needed the money.
My sympathies to those who actually find this entertaining.
Raise your standards, you can do far better than this!

I don't care HOW unrealistic it is it's entertaining. Genuinely had me on the edge of my seat and entirely unpredictable. At no point did I know what was going to get thrown at them next but i'm HERE FOR IT. The drama, thrills, and gore make it impossible to look away. It really feels like there's a lot at stake and not a single person is being left out, everyone has to overcome something. I think sometimes in shows you have to suspend realism a bit and just allow it to happen and this is one of them. What it may lack in realism it more than makes up for in entertainment value. I cannot wait for the second part!
While there is a small population of orcas in the straits of Gibraltar that have been attacking small boats in the last few years, orcas attacking boats and ships is not a real threat. They need to point out that this a fictional storyline and people don't have fear orcas. I hate when tv shows and movies make nature into a much bigger threat than reality. It causes unnecessary fear and possible fear driven problems between humans and nature.
Normally I love Dr Odyssey for its escapist 1980s soap opera throwback tendencies. However, this is the second episode that leans more towards action adventure meets medical tv show. I don't need the cruise ship edition of Fast and Furious meets shark week.
On top of that, is Phillipa Soo leaving the cast? Outside of two scenes, she barely featured in this episode. Plus, the sudden addition of Adrianna palicki, MD makes me suspicious. Note: Dr Odyssey went out of its way to have a general practitioner, a nurse practitioner and registered nurse all doing complicated surgeries, but this week the show started using Adrienne P's character for anything vaguely surgical. So, are they adding her character or are they swapping out the medical POC characters?
Finally, this week's show has backslid on its progressive charter. Tristan giving the your body your choice speech before hiatus was perfection. Now we get 1980s miscommunication hijinks, with Avery catching Max with another woman. Yawn.

Take one likeable female lead keep pushing her character to dislikeable and plain whiney. Then introduce another GREATLY dislikeable female who is way tooboverwritten or overacted (pick your poison), makes the show almost unwatchable. Then push way to hard to mention or introduce social and political issues that are inaccurate, do not make sense for the show, or add no actual substance. Show was going great until now. I'm about done no matter how much I enjoy Joshua Jackson. Stop trying to put things vinny a show that don't make sense and pull up some of these side characters more, because alot of them are fantastic.
Did you know
- TriviaOne of the characters who receives a shark bite is named "Brodie" - possibly a reference to Roy Scheider's character Chief Brody from Jaws (1975).
