For nearly two decades’ worth of the life of our culture, Tori Spelling has been apologizing for herself.
The actress came to prominence on “Beverly Hills, 90210,” the teen soap through which she became an avatar of ditzy privilege, less so for anything she did onscreen than for the unavoidable fact of how she’d found herself there. Her father, the TV impresario Aaron Spelling, had plugged his daughter — not a world-historically great thespian — into his latest production perhaps because no one would tell him no. The public’s resentment was inevitable; though nepotism is nothing new, the transparency of Spelling’s means of ascent was a bit galling. It’s nice, if not exactly right, to believe that stars get where they are through some sort of consent of the viewing public, not simply through having their fame bestowed like a sweet-sixteen gift, or an acceptance to USC.

Hit 1990s teen drama Beverly Hills, 90210 is staging a comeback. A reboot featuring a number of original cast members including Jennie Garth, Tori Spelling, Jason Priestley, Ian Ziering, Brian Austin Green and Gabrielle Carteris is being pitched to broadcast and streaming networks with multiple buyers interested, sources said.
I hear the scripted project from CBS TV Studios features most of the original cast but is not a traditional reboot. I hear the new Beverly Hills, 90210 comes from writers/executive producers Mike Chessler and Chris Alberghini, who worked on the CW’s 90210 reboot and on Spelling’s series So Notorious, as well as CBS TV Studios-based Ghen Maynard, who has a relationship with Spelling and Garth and executive produces the new series.

That noise you hear is Nat updating the specials board at the Peach Pit.
TVLine has confirmed that CBS Television Studios is in very early development on a potential TV series that would reunite Beverly Hills, 90210 vets Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth. According to People.com, the project in question would be based loosely on the iconic Fox soap and find Spelling and Garth playing “exaggerated versions of themselves.”
Beverly Hills, 90210 launched in 1990 on Fox and aired for 10 seasons. CBS, which owns the rights to intellectual property, rebooted the franchise (with the more streamlined title 90210) in 2008 on The CW.

ABC Family has finally confirmed so far a second batch of returning, cancelled and new series. As expected, Mystery Girls has been cancelled as it was rumored to be. This is not shocking as fans of Jenny Garth and Tori Spelling saw the show fail before their eyes. However, ABC Family did not allow the day end with bad news. They also confirmed that Emily Osment’s was renewed for a second season. They also confirmed Stitchers, a new series revolving around a young woman helping to solve crimes.
This is bittersweet news as Tori and Jenny both needed Mystery Girls to survive. However, it was a good try on their end. As for Emily, it is nice to see she has found success for herself at last. She worked hard and still wasn’t able to shake the shadow of being a side kick. Thus it is good to...

Has ABC Family cancelled their Mystery Girls TV show after one season? The cable channel says that an official decision hasn't been made yet but TV Line is hearing that the sitcom is indeed done.
Though there hasn't been an official announcement, it's hard to believe that ABC Family would even consider renewing the series. The ratings have just been too low -- even for a cable comedy that airs during the summer months.
Starring Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth, the recent finale of Mystery Girls drew just 542,000 viewers. In contrast, the summer finale of Pretty Little Liars attracted 2.3 million.
What do you think? Did you like the Mystery Girls sitcom? Were you hoping for a second season?

Bad news for major 90s fans. ABC Family has pretty much cancelled Mystery Girls without officially announcing it. Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth both have hoped to make a comeback like Melissa Joan-Hart, but the show failed to keep up high ratings. According to reports that show is expected to be fully cancelled by the time this month ends. ABC Family has not confirmed nor fully denied their plans. However, this is sad news for Jennie and Tori as they rebuild their careers back up.
The show followed the lives of these two sort of detectives who found themselves as more trouble than good. The series has a great concept and held a lot of promise due to Tori assisting producing it. But due to it being marketed as silly and goofy, it seemed to fail to bring interest in these former drama stars followers. So far no word has...

McPartlin will recur on NBC’s upcoming comedy Bad Judge as Billy the Fireman, our sister site Deadline reports. And because men in uniform always get the girl, Billy will be a love interest for Kate Walsh’s Rebecca — though he might find himself at odds with new series regular Ryan Hansen, who’s also a love interest for Rebeeca (aka the luckiest judge ever).
But seriously, I wasn’t kidding about McPartlin’s knack for playing life savers.
