Pleasant if not overwhelming
I have followed Candace for many years and find her approach at GAF to be a mixed bag. I have yet to view any effort that has blown me away and yet I have not found her recent offerings abysmal either. No doubt a douse of Jesus and family values are welcome when one considers the totality PC direction of Hallmark, Lifetime and other networks. Home Sweet Christmas benefits from an abundance of Christmas lights/decorations, warm settings and a beautiful country backdrop. I didn't find much chemistry between the two leads. Thier relationship seemed a bit forced. I believe Erin would have been a more suitable match for Sam. Of course the ending was predictable, but that is expected with these Christmas affairs. All in all a pleasant 90 minutes however I question if I would watch this film a second time. The best Hallmark efforts of many years ago were/are enjoyed on an annual basis. The barrage of Christmas offerings the past five years, from all of the producers, simply are not at a level that prompts repeated viewings. Merry Christmas all!
Somewhat disappointing...
While I had indeed never heard about this 2024 Christmas movie titled "Home Sweet Christmas" from director Paula Elle, I opted to add it to my 2024 Christmas movie marathon, as it was a movie that I hadn't already seen and Candace Cameron Bure usually makes fair enough Christmas movies.
The storyline in "Home Sweet Christmas" was essentially just a romance story with a light Christmas apparel pulled over it. I didn't get any particular overwhelming Christmassy feeling from watching the movie, so the writers failed to properly make this project come across as a Christmas movie. Sure, the movie was watchable, but it was a bit disappointing, as I was actually expecting a generic, sappy Christmas movie.
The acting performances in the movie were fair. You know what you get from Candace Cameron Bure, and she does deliver in the movie, though it was hardly among the best of her Christmas movies. It was nice to see William MacDonald in the movie in the role as the quirky Declan 'Fitzy' Fitzgerald.
If you enjoy sappy Christmas movies, then you're not getting your money's worth, should you opt to sit down and watch this 2024 movie from director Paula Elle. I was somewhat disappointed, yet I did make it through the entire movie.
This is definitely not a movie that I will ever return to watch a second time.
My rating of "Home Sweet Christmas" lands on a four out of ten stars.

Wrong facts in the movie....poor quality
I hate when movies can't get their facts straight. At the beginning of the movie Candace is driving a Chevy Camaro - I asked the question why anyone would be driving a Camaro in ice and snow and then in the movie Candace is asked the question and her response is "it is all wheel drive". There is no AWD Camaro, they are all RWD - keep your facts straight GAC.
This movie is okay, and we are Candace fans so we only record and watch the Candace movies on GAC after realizing how the quality is lacking in the productions.
The rest of the GAC movies, the production quality is far below that of the Hallmark movies. GAC can steal the stars, as it has, but it can't steal the quality.

More casting oops
I must admit to not watching the film past the notary business in the home town, Munchville or whatever it was. Much hilarity however as the three people sat round the table were implied to be at shcool with each other. It was bad enough that the opening scene implied the two leads were the same age whne the guy was like a wrinkled Iggy Pop lookalike and perhaps ten years older than a rather ageing Ms Bure. But then check in the notary women who was getting on for another ten years younger than her - hilarious. And she makes a move on the pensioner with something about haven't seen you since we were at school together. Good laugh but the formula was looking set at the question about whether they were thinking of selling the place, so the total lack of originality did it for me.
The usual and still worth it.
These Christmas movies all follow the same plot line, have the same actors, same scenes, and the same ending. And yet I still find them enjoyable. They still make me cry, make me laugh, give me the warm fuzzies, and still fill me with Christmas spirit. I have always enjoyed the actors in these movies and have a special fondness for Candace Cameron Bure and Cameron Mathison.
I would like to say that this movie has something new and different but it doesn't. Its just another really enjoyable Christmas movie. I know this is not a popular view to have now, but I prefer the movies on GAF as they stay true to traditional roles. Hallmark's older movies are still enjoyable.

Did you know
- GoofsWhen asked why she is driving a Camaro in ice and snow Candace's character states "it's all wheel drive". No Camaro in history has ever been all wheel drive.
